Forum MVP Tea Posted August 1, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted August 1, 2013 Jerry's gifts have touched so many. While we need to reserve hero worship to a select few, only a small handful of people have had the impact on my life that he did. His musical expression is something that's difficult to wrap your mind around - SHIT - Once I began to really 'hear' his music, I got this strange feeling that I could not describe. I thought it was the associated frame of mind that I often put myself in until I saw him stone-cold-sober for a number of years. I'm thinking now: 'that feeling' was my DNA being re-written. I know, I know: He was just a great guitarist in a rock-n-roll band. Right - I get it. Say what you want, but I am forever changed because this man had the ability to communicate something with his music that words were woefully inaccurate in trying to describe. He was no saint and never wanted the mantle of a leader - of anything. Despite that, our world is a better place because the amazing gift that he shared. While this birthday show was frustrating for me because I wanted him to so badly to be performer he once was, there was magic here - it just manifested itself more with his voice in his later years. That Stella said all that needed to be said: Grateful Dead @ The Palace of Auburn Hills 8/1/1994 http://archive.org/details/gd94-08-01.neumann.nawrocki.12522.sbeok.shnf Happy Trails Jerry!
