Augustwest_75
We're all getting pretty pumped for the Jubilee and wanted to discuss the camping options at Legend Valley. No one in my group has been there before and we understand there are two general camping options: 1) Park car outside the venue, carry stuff in, and camp in "the bowl" and 2) Park car outside the venue and camp next to your car. Either option has pros and cons, but it's tough to figure out which one is right for us without knowing the lay of the land. How far is the car camping section from the stage? Is it close enough so that it's not that big of a deal to head back to the car/tent to restock on beers or get long sleeves if it gets cold at night? Or is it so far that once you leave your tent in the morning to head to the venue, you're really not going to want to come back? What is it like camping inside the bowl? Sometimes at festivals I need to "take a break" and chill for a bit back at my tent ... sometimes mid-afternoon, sometimes late night. Is this possible if camping inside the bowl or is the festival action non-stop and always intense? I'm assuming there are no shaded areas inside the bowl, are there shaded camping options on the outside? If camping inside the bowl, is it easy to go back and forth to the car? With either option, is it possible to leave the festival by car to go resupply or find a swimming hole? Speaking of which, does anyone know about any popular swimming holes in the area?!? I asked a lot of questions in this post hoping not only to get at least some answers, but also to hear what others experienced at this venue as well as what worked and didn't work for you. See you at the Jubilee!

flairblair
the place is small and very easy to walk anywhere no matter your condition. there are some camping areas where you can almost see the stage. I did rv/vip last year and was completely impressed. it looked like some of the other areas at the top of the hill above vendors were kinda cramped, bit the rain could have had lots to do with it. I could hear from my site, and there was some shade, altho we got 11 inches of rain in three days. I think buckeye lake has a lake open to the public, its a state park, probably costs 5 bucks, about 5 miles away according to mr McNally. I found vip really nice to get away from it all, there was a lot of tent hangin going on in the denser areas, again, 11 inches of rain. whatever, youre gonna love it there
Augustwest_75
wow, 11 inches of rain in 3 days sounds pretty wet. when I heard the festival was at buckeye lake, I was immediately thinking a nelson ledges type venue where you're floating on rafties listening to the music during the day. a quick look at google maps and I realized was not the case. doh! by the way does anybody know if they will have beer drones at the jubilee this year? http://t.now.msn.com/south-africas-oppikoppi-music-festival-goers-could-have-beer-delivered-via-beer-drone
Forum MVP gr8fulpair Posted May 6, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 6, 2013 if you park and camp in the bowl, the car parking is right outside the main gate. it's about a 5 min walk straight down the hill to the stage area or a 10 min walk through some shaded tree camping (but very little level ground) down a switchback to the back of the stage area where the vendors are. I think all the porta-johns are at the bottom of the hill ( a set on either side of the stage). The hill behind the vendors and somewhat straight back from the main stage will be our spot of choice if there's room that's level. you can camp and see the stage from there and i don't recall it being crazy and crowded (we camped in rv last year). The walk back to the car is nice because it's through the tree camping and you always meet some cool folks along the way. bring everything you'll need, you won't want to leave. stillrockinout
As others have stated, the venue is not all that big so traveling back and forth to the vehicles is pretty easy, depending on your BAC @ the time. A cooler w/wheels would be a great thing to have. The little beach we found at Buckeye Lake was 1 exit west on I-70. I'm sure some Ohio heads will chime in with even better recon. Actually, there is some shaded camping inside the bowl but you need to be an early arrival to score one of those sites. It is possible if you have the commitment, like most things in life. Have fun, make some new friends, and try to be clean when you leave. My only negative vibe last year was seeing hippy types getting fucked with upon leaving the venue on Monday morning.Know Your Rights !! Peace, Bob
Forum MVP Rude Posted May 6, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 6, 2013 This is a no brainer. Camp inside the venue. Tons of room. short walk to stage. No need to camp by car. its prob around .3-.4 mile from car camp to stage vs like 400 feet from camping area inside.
Augustwest_75
D minus 14 days and counting. We're all excited for Jubilee and I'm well aware that "where I camp" will be the least of my concerns once I am there. Appreciate all the great feedback and more importantly the sharing of experiences. Would love to hear more from you kind folks who were there last year! Going back and forth with the crew today working up a camping list of supplies. God I love getting ready for festival. BTW, can't believe nobody commented on the beer drones .... they are awesome! Very excited, and I too wondered if where I camp is even a big deal. I guess some shade for afternoon sleep would be nice!!! "BEER DRONES" Really.. I saw the link, read it, but did not really get it? They fly in serve beer and fly off? Verticle lift? Not that green, as gravity sucks with verticle lifts. Why fly it in, and not drive? I think the article was from Aussie down under. Maybe economical in very rural areas? Thinking aloud, but please share, "they are awesome" have you seen these things? What kind of beer do they serve:}!!! What kind of safety radius do they need? Guess I am in google terratory!!!
Augustwest_75
Imagine kicking back on a blanket, mid-afternoon at festival. Music is sounding sweet and that beer tent is oh so far away. What to do? Why call in a beer drone of course! You order the beer from your smart phone and it gets parachuted to your coordinates! Ha! Can't imagine the practicality of it all but think the concept is hilarious! The drones are for individual beer delivery with resources set up on site, not for mass delivery or a kegger! Mr_Charlie
There is NO Beer tent. It is strictly BYOB!! So when you need another beer, you just reach into your cooler along side you and grab one. Even more convenient.
Forum MVP gr8fulpair Posted May 10, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 10, 2013 Agreed, I don't want to count on technology when I need a beer.

Forum MVP Rude Posted May 13, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 13, 2013 Well as it turns out the Beer Drone is currently in South Africa only unless it veers offcourse. We should just be aware of the Homeland Security drones overhead tracking all the hippies!
