Dark star delivers in LA again, to a small crowd once again. Epic amounts of dance space....super strong show. Stellar estimated>eyes....but I think the sailor>saint out of space stole the night.

Filler : hurts me too LISA!!!

Not much said here so I'll try to dig back into my memory, waaaay back to the first show of tour....

....First show of tour is always interesting. Usually a little anxiety going on....maybe you haven't danced in a while, gotta find your moves, get in the groove....not so much for me though as right before tour I did a six night run of shows, including Stu Allen @ Ashkenaz(always fun), two Railroad Earth shows(awesome, psychedelic Earth-Space), two Dead Dances(which, for those who don't know, are the most radical dance parties in existence), and Steve Kimock and Bernie Worrell in Santa Cruz(sweet Jazz, would say more of this but I'll just say that it was sick). So i'd been dancing quite a bit, but nobody plays at the octane of the Dark Star Orchestra so it still took a bit of adjustment and easing in for me.

Before the start of the show NoahBF and I were geeking out, looking at the equipment on stage and trying to figure out what era we were going to get, when I noticed a new synthesizer I hadn't seen before. I thought to myself, "what songs did Brent use the synth on", and the first thing that came to mind was 'alabama getaway'....and I was right. Gosh I love guessing right, which I do often(of course I swing and miss constantly too). First set was good, nothing to write home about necessarily but the 'let it grow>deal' to close the set was some serious business.

Second set was definitely something to write home about. I didn't, because I don't think my parents would really understand and would probably just think i'm crazy(if they don't already....)...but i'm writing here, and I want to get it across to you how fun this set of music was.  Right out of the gate we get "feel like a stranger", a great tune in my opinion, and a rager to start the set. I don't remember whether or not Barraco used the synth in this song but if he didn't, he should have(you reading this Rob? I'm watching you...(; ). By this point most of us made our way out of the pit and back a bit to where there was tons of space. Club Nokia is a new venue and the wood floor was pristine, and there was virtually no one around except us dancing freaks....and boy did we freak it. Running, jumping, spinning and flailing all over...if you hadn't been exposed to this kind of behavior before you might have thought that we were possessed....which we were, by the music:)  The 'estimated>eyes' was fantastic, one of my favorite pairings(well, I'm ALWAYS down for an eyes...seriously, I don't think i could ever get sick of this one). Drums into 'Sailor>Saint' was surprise for me, a welcome one, and was executed beautifully. A challenging paring to play and DSO does beyond justice to it. 'Comes a time' and the rest of the show was splendid, one of the best dance parties of the whole tour. After the show we drove to Riverside where would stay for two nights, and the dance party continued there. The music never stops, and never will.

Wow, what a way to start Tour, and what a Tour we were treated to. Thank you DSO, you guys(and gal!!) freakin' rock my soul like no other. Love Love Love! ! !
