TJed
Wow, 5/21/77. Another great one. Please keep re-creating classic Grateful Dead shows. Re-creating incredible Grateful Dead shows is what keeps MANY of us inspired to follow DSO. It's still what many of us think you all do best! GermanShepherd
This was a comical opening. Just by coincidence, Rob E. and B. decided to hit the microphones at exactly the same instance, and of course it creates that funny awkwardness. So Eaton backs off, waiting patiently for Rob B. They decide Eaton should try again, but this time is thwarted by Jeff starting at the same time. Super hilarious. Both Jeff and Eaton back off, Barraco does a short intro, nothing is smooth - he's not sure if he can mention the setlist yet for Jubilee. But in any case, here comes the opening notes to beautiful Bertha...and we're off (more than usual!). Row Jimmy was very heartfelt. Passenger had me thinking intermission was next - it was just such a rockin' tune! And then when I expected them to hang up the instruments, here comes Scarlet Fire. Intermission was super fast - just time to refresh my brew at this #1 Venue. I love this place. Seated balcony with great views if you're into that, side boxes, clean bathrooms with an attendant, FFS. Where else do you see that? Then into the second set with Other One going into...would it be Morning Dew, Wharf Rat, Stella? No, a truly emotional Comes a Time. Soooooo GOOOOD! Then St. Stephen into NFA, back to St Stephen and wrap it all up with the last couple of tunes to shake your bones to. This has been may favorite indoor show. The guys (and girl) deserve a long break. I so wish I could go to Florida and Jam in the Sand. Made it to Jam in the Dam last year - guess that'll have to suffice. All in all, my wife, our German Shepherd, and I had a great 3-day run with DSO. Familiar territory in both venue and music. If I win the lottery, my plan is clear...Sell Everything, travel with DSO. Jubilee!
Forum MVP Mango Posted February 11, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 11, 2013 That show would have been perfect with a Dylan song to close- you pick.
GermanShepherd
That show would have been perfect with a Dylan song to close- you pick. We all had enough Dylan on Friday (with Memphis Blues) to last the rest of the year. But, since I have to choose, it's gonna be Tangled up in Blue. Forum MVP Tea Posted February 12, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 12, 2013 Thanks GS! Appreciate the kind review but I'm still waiting for the all-Dylan 1st set and an all JGB 2nd! Be still my heart....
Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted February 12, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 12, 2013 I'd like to see them recreate this: "When I Paint My Masterpiece" "She Belongs to Me" "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" "Maggie's Farm" "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again" "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry" "Ballad of a Thin Man" "Desolation Row" "All Along the Watchtower" "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" "Man of Peace" "Queen Jane Approximately" "Quinn the Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn" Then maybe a few favs like "Visions of Johanna," "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," "I Want You," and "Positively 4th Street." Encore: a triumphant windmilling "Tangled Up in Blue"
Forum MVP GoingBackTo Where.... Posted February 12, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 12, 2013 Some of my very favorite GD tunes you have listed above Chuck. Thank god Dylan can not sing or even be understood when he sings, or I might think some of the tunes above where his originals:} hahah-----sorry----I know how some feel about Dylan, but I think his words are performed so nicer in the hands of others!!! I would of loved to catch those Ohio acts. My god...the setlist are wonderful!!! I hope i get some of the same magic this week!! Pretty sure I will, but I always want more:} Yea---I realize my spelling is shit. Dont care for the singing, but sorry Bob, I still enjoy your words:}
