Forum MVP August West Posted January 23, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 23, 2013 Jeez I hadn't seen this lineup of the ZT's since the Wetlands days, although I did catch the recreation of the Harpour College show they did, but no RB that night. And of course no Jen. That was quite the show last night!! Saw alot of familier faces I haven't seen in a long, long, time. It was such a beautiful suprise to see, and be able to share space with Noah and Riley, especially since it's her birthday week. I had thought they were back in California. Really enjoyed hearing the original songs played live again, some I like more than others, but overall very solid. They looked like they were having alot of fun up there, just like old buddies should. And the Lo Spark WOW!! I was at the E-Fact when DSO teased it , but last night I knew we were getting the whole enchilada. The song was performed so beautifully. Mattson nailing the vocals, RB tickling the ivories. It was really, really special. I think were gonna get it at a DSO show soon, I just hope I'm there to catch it. And the Cryptical..... such a journey!!!!!.They also drew suprisingly well considering it was a Tuesday night, and it was bone chilling cold outside. During the first set the venue was pretty filled up, nowhere like when DSO was there and you couldnt move in the place. I like the venue alot but I think DSO is just too big for it. People were all in Cotter's space the last time, and he had a really hard time. It was really good to see those guys plus Jen, together again. Brought back alot of great memories. Later skaters. NoahBF
such an amazing night! It was wonderful to share our space with you too greg! heard a bunch of tunes i hadn't heard before and i was blown away by the jams especially in their originals. alot of awesome jazzy jams as well as intense deep jams with jeff completely rippin the whole night. he seemed so comfortable from the opening notes and the sound he got out of his fender pro reverb amp was very powerful and extra crispy! so happy i got to see this show it was so unforgettable to me. how about the tricksters open for dso at the jubilee or something?? or come to the west coast! I want more!

Forum MVP Mango Posted January 24, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 24, 2013 I'm pretty sure that Mattson played it the Long Island steak house in the "mattson barraco duo" which actually became a trio with Rob's son playing percussion. good shit. Forum MVP Evangeline Posted January 24, 2013 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 24, 2013 Abandoned Love has been a staple of Jeff's for many years with The Zen Tricksters and Mattson/Barraco too. I love the way he does that song but never could figure out how he remembers all those lyrics!
cusnjohn
Also played at the innaugural Mattson Barraco & Friends show in Manhattan October 2010 and likely at the Mexicali Blues show soon after. Great tune. If anyone has a copy of the innaugural show, I would love a copy. Got the Steakhouse show BTW. Worth having.

Dylan only played it live a couple of times, which suprised me because it's such a great song. I know I didn't catch any of those Jeff /Rob shows but I will be sure not to miss them the next time.
