citse-jam
Why would DSO take a GD setlist, swap out only two songs and then call it an Original Setlist? It would seem to make more sense to leave the GD setlist intact, especially with so very little of it changed. Anyhow I just found that to be a wee-bit strange. For those interested I am talking about DSO 12-7-12 vs. GD 9-29-77.

Forum VIP Dr. Vapor Posted December 9, 2012 Forum VIP Report Share Posted December 9, 2012 They had a early 70s show planned but after the first night of playin with Jeff C his B3 organ playin was amazing and they wanted him play more so they switched to a new show and found one that had no repeats from night before no keyboard songs but allowed Lisa to sing. So that ment 77 they had a original planned for Lowell. So they didn't want to go original back to back. It was a blender. It's different but it was a last minute change. Jeff rocked the four days great crowds and a lot of dancin.
Forum MVP Vortex Posted December 9, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 9, 2012 We had that show picked out but wanted Jeff to have the option of playing B-3, which there was none in 77'. Since Ramble On Rose was going to be the only repeat from the night before, we threw that out and kept the rest of it (except UJB which we found we didn't have time for). What makes an elective is we threw out referencing the Seattle show for arrangements as well. We played the songs the way we play an Elective set list. ... Any way we felt like. Terrapin_Sedation
I was wondering if DSO has ever repeated playing a Grateful Dead setlist and if not, would you consider changing that policy. I've come to like original setlists because of the mix of tunes and chance to hear Jerry songs that weren't played by the Dead. But I also like recreated setlists that are played with the song arrangement of that era. But it would seem that with 2,000 plus concerts under your belt that if you don't repeat GD concerts, you'll soon hit the 2,318 wall. P.S fuck that New Yorker dude. Still burns my beans. Jerry nodding out ....bullshit buzzer right there.

Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted December 10, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 10, 2012 Have they ever unknowingly (or not) recreated an Original? Not that I know of, but I have a couple I would request if they ever decide to go down that road.

Hey wait a minute - re-creating original set lists could upset the entire space/time continuum - to say nothing of the drums/space continuum. Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted December 11, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 11, 2012 A long time ago that was a topic here. We were rooting for the DSO spirit band - CIA...Crashes Into Ashes. Alas, their career was all too brief. Maybe it was a real niche market, but I think now more than ever the time has come. How about starting with 5-19-07?
Forum MVP dsostar Posted December 11, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 11, 2012 I heard that Jackie Greene is putting together a DSO tribute band. Disclaimer: Gossipmongering for entertainment purposes only.

BrentFan
They have repeated numerous shows. Comes with the territory. Recall seeing numerous repeats over the years. Especially with "infamous" GD shows such as 5/9/77 and 10/8-9/89. Both of which I've witnessed twice n know of them doing, at least, two more I was not in attendance for. Loved each performance! As stated, comes with the territory.

BrentFan
And there was this one sound check at the Ledges... 7/3/2007!!!!!!!!!!!!! Early Bird Gratefulfest show: The Weight, Big Iron, I'll Take a Melody, I am the Walrus > Ohio, Watching the Wheels, Cripple Creek Don't recall, was this a Terrapin Nation show? It's not listed in the DSO set list page, so I'm thinking it was...
Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted December 12, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 12, 2012 Yep, From what I remember it was TN. So maybe DSO can do a little side action recreating TN, or vice versa. And it definitely gives Jackie a lot of material!
