This looks like another wondrous journey through beauty! Wish I was able to stay down there just one more day but had to get home to those same old friends, the wind and rain (we'll see summer come again...)

Looking forward to some chunky reviews about the night...

Miss Supplicated, please ramble on...

Why thank you, don't mind if I do! I'm gonna go ahead and review this one before I get to my review of the Fillmore Saturday cause although that was AMAZING, I REALLY enjoyed this particular 74 show a LOT. the way they transitioned into the other one from he's gone was BEYOND masterful and those jams were just so genuinely grateful dead it made me happy to know they could follow up a night playing with Phil with THAT kind of tastiness. Right on!

Promised land was romping stomping swinging fun and the 1/2 step was just swarthily sparkling as we rolled out along the lazy river. The Black Throated was bright and true with just enough longing to wrench the heart and bruise the soul but in the mystical relationship established with the devil we found ourselves up in a cave in utah, wondering when our time would come due.

Jack straw was particularly delicious and I was reminded of how much I truly enjoy seeing DSO play the same songs in a run because of their skill that lets them force me to dance differently every time because they play each song so fresh each time.

Loser with El Paso to follow was absolutely wonderful and it was here that I was pretty sure we were in a similar week of grateful dead history and a similar area as well but i didn't think to hard about it cause it's not about knowing for me, it is about experiencing.

China>Rider through the close of the set was REALLY powerful! They started getting the summonings on at this point and I was TOTALLY there..... we ALL were! THIS is the power of DSO, though elective sets are great, THIS was the kind of magic that made them what they are and keeps them growing....... OHHHHHH WRS was just so amazing I had just told our group it was my fave when it came on in the car and they played it exactly how I like it and I am still a mess of swirling excitedness from that experience and we grew and grew and grew!!!!!! Oh, and the Uncle was superb and the Roses must have been worth gathering this night as we all laid bare our very souls together in remembrance of a time when all humans danced around the fire under the moon together before no one came round anymore.....

The theatre was so beautiful and though we got danced out of our spot we had tickets for, we know it's not about territory or owning space since you can't, its just about finding the space with the love for you and THAT we did! was cool all the dancers kept gravitating to us, though, I take it as a compliment for sure! the sound was better higher up anyway (go figure! lol) the band just looked SO GOOD in this venue, from the lights to the energy they played with to the love shining back on them from the crowd.... divine!

Scarlet was incredible and the big river was very difficult to breathe during due to the fast paced dancing it inspired but when they got to Ramble on Rose we could breathe again and I was struck by the bands ability to truly heighten the energy into a frenzy just to cool it to nearly nothing as is their duty and it was a very powerful remembrance. Mexicali was quite fun but it was when they fell off into the He's Gone that we entered the spaceship and blasted off to times of old to see that even if he is gone, we are all still here in celebration of all that came before and all that will be. As I said above, from this point on they were hitting every note just right and finding every stray energy to express and then weave back into the great pattern of melodic freedom that we could all devour and gain true spiritual sustenance from. spanish jam was the best.... just the BEST!

the Stella was very special for me and I couldn't decide if they were playing it that well or I had just fell into it that hard but it was triumphantly forlorn in every way.

i love sugar mags, no better way to end it.

great encores- always struck by how much I enjoy DSO doing Casey Jones, not to mention how much i Love US blues! and though I am also sad there was no time for fillers as others were, we got plenty of music this night and it was one heck of a way to end this run with so many friends and with so much joy!

Very well played 74 recreation..venue was not nearly as bad as some ppl were making it out to be beforehand..lots of aisle dancing without problem..He's Gone had a spectacular jam out of it in to the OtherOne, which had an awesome Spanish Jam>Mind left body jam in between it ..no Heaven Help jam as aaron's list promotes.. really sweet second set overall..
