Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted October 6, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 6, 2012 10/19/89 The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Set 1: Hell In A Bucket West LA Fadeaway Victim Or The Crime Built To Last Blow Away When I Paint My Masterpiece Cumberland Blues Cassidy Don't Ease Me In Set 2: Help On The Way Slipknot! Franklin's Tower Estimated Prophet Eyes Of The World Drums The Wheel Dear Mr. Fantasy Hey Jude Reprise Death Don't Have No Mercy Turn On Your Love Light Encore: It's All Over Now Baby Blue Filler: Cats>Satisfaction>Irene YAY now THAT was a concert! Def some flubbing of lyrics all around but who cares with jams like that and searingly delicious grooves that kept us dancing a lllllll night! Bucket was the perfect opener and I was happy to get West LA and Built to Last to take the bitterness from my mouth at those songs from the "other" night..... golden! Mango got his precious Victim to get us all in the moment. Strong first set with Blow Away really making me smile and a stunning Masterpiece indeed. Cassidy was especially zippingly fun and Don't Ease just rocked the place to pieces. Second Set was really great, I almost wrote "drums>space>wheel" (we got back to where we belong!) cause I was feeling it and felt like I knew the show and was sad at myself for not calling it and though the help>slip>frank and prophet>eyes were stunning, it was the post drums that really had me feeling the majesty of the universal mind pervading my every sense. reached right into me for mr fantasy hey jude and took me to another dimension. Death don't was mind boggling and the love light had us soooo happy! it's all over now baby blue is one of my favorite songs ever and I have been in the back when they played it lately so being up front was so wonderful. CATS was out of this world (CHUCKLES WE LOVE YOU AND WE FINALLY MADE IT TO VEGAS WITH YOU!) I mean REALLY good and the Satisfaction was one of the best ever. Eaton was particularly on fire tonight, and I'm not saying that to kiss ass because of recent happenings. He was doing "the bobby" screams and whatnot so much more and just really giving us his best energies up there and it showed in how much fun we all had. THANK YOU GUYS for being so amazing! I LOVE YOU DSO! See you tomorrow in LA!
TerrapinJen
It was my understanding that its frowned upon to mention flubbed lyrics on this forum..
TerrapinJen
Wow. this show was great! Late 80s usually isn't my favorite, but they really nailed it last night. what a monster second set!! help slip frank estimated eyes was really really good and I was dancing like my life depended on it. Had a great little spot I'm the back where I could dance and shake my bones with some old and new friends. the filler was just what I needed to send me home. cats is one of my favorites. I wasn't sure what to expect since Vegas isn't one of my favorite places (sorry chuck) but as usual I was more than pleasantly surprised. I was also impressed with how crowded it was. not in a bad overly crowded way.. but nice to see so many heads in Vegas for dso sad we have to miss la.. but well see you in salt lake. Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted October 6, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 6, 2012 Hell, my little desert town did represent well, didn't it? Good to have DSO back in the HOB after a 5 or 6 year hiatus, wonderful to have so much family there, and a blessing to get this show! More later, as recuperation and rehydration continues. Forum MVP John A Posted October 7, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 7, 2012 The final Fantasy jam on 10/19/89 is breathtaking. And Death Don't is a tour de force, with Garcia's vocals on the last verse ("COME INTO YOUR HOUSE") icing the cake.
Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted October 8, 2012 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 8, 2012 mentioning flubbed lyrics in a positive review is different than focusing on one person's mistake in a show you didn't like. that is blaming one musician for your bad night (even if unintended) and that isn't realistic, is all. you can mention whatever you want, but I will continue to call shenanigans. lines being flubbed is part of the fun, not a downer. why i am REALLY posting again is because I forgot to say how funny it was to come to Vegas and have NBA players fall over themselves to get out of our way walking through the casino hallway..... he all noble and i in my unicorn cap! TOOOO FUNNY! only in vegas! they even shouted out, "smoke weed!" at us and I laughed so hard it hurt. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY. i didn't tell wavy gravy he was one of my biggest inspirations and that i think of him every time i wear my hat and i am still mad at myself for this. i had the chance and blew it. ugh. that fantasy jude is still ringing through the LA show from Vegas and giving me chills and hope. TerrapinJen
maybe you should go back and re-read my post. i said it was a solid show, never said i didnt like it. that's putting words in my mouth. if we're going to make "rules" i think they should apply to everyone. not just me. didnt you just call out phil for his pedal in a furthur show you didnt like? i'll continue to call inconsistency. amd yes, i forgot wavy was there, thank you for jarring my memory. there were so many fun and funny things happening in Vegas. its hard to remember them all. I still feel like my brain is suffering from over-stimululation. the neon lights are still burned in my retinas haha. i need to spend some time on the mountain, just looking at nature...
