Greatest DSO show with Jeff?

Many people have tagged the 5/19/07 show at Ram's Head as the greatest show of the previous incarnation of DSO, with JK on lead. It was (and is, on tape) a quite extraordinary show, with an off-the-charts set list. I am wondering if folks think we have a comparable show from the Jeff Mattson era. I say this as someone who (while I loved John) prefers Jeff. I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

The Statebridge show from this year is unforgettable and was divine and we'll just never forget being hypnotized.....

I also agree with Noah on the Oneonta assessment, that was just great!

BUT my personal favorite will remain Agoura Hills 4/13/12......... we watched the whole YouTube video the other night and it was almost as magical as being there and proves it wasn't just the kool-aid..... I mean, Jeff has his jaw SET the WHOLE show in that "i will steal your face" determined gaze of his and by Eyes when the whole band realized this was the most fun moment ever (love when you can SEE it happen) for that moment a ripple of true time stopping space ripping glee splashed over the whole universe....! we were THERE, oh my gosh!

That first Atlanta show in late February of 2010 when Jeff first joined and they did a super 60s flavor original setlist well before they whipped out the 69s was AMAZING and tons of people after said it was the "best show ever".

Oh gosh, and the AC Hilton show in fall 2010 was RIDICULOUS and I met a LOT of you there for the first time so that one has to be mentioned as well.

We will be in LA and if we get really wild maybe Vegas...... fall joy starts there for us (but JGB tonight and Furthur tomorrow should pass the time and keep us warm!)

how lovely you are joining us in LA!

Also if i'm correct this tour will be jeff's first shows at the fillmore..i have a feeling at least one of them might be "the best jeff shows yet".

For me, it's hard to compare Jeff show's without the macintosh amp because that has takin the band to a new level imo

The prevailing theme is the late sixties shows are the favorites. I agree and will weigh in with 9-27-11 Yost Theater, Santa Ana, CA. Elective setlist circa 1969-1970 style. It was a sparsely-attended Tuesday night show that just dripped vintage Grateful Dead. Jeff has certainly added a new dimension to DSO.

I saw A show with Mattson playin back in the fall of 09. it was John's last tour with the band, and he had to skip a few shows for furthur duty and jeff filled in for a few of the East Coast shows I saw. One in particular that stands out was at the Lowell Memorial auditorium!!! It seemed as though time stropped and the band had all night to just rip. Swear it was as if they played every song! Mattson running around on stage giving it to everyone, jaw swanging! Neer forget it. My first DSO Mattson led experience...

My first Mattson show as well. It went on forever (if I remember correctly it was from Springfield, MA '72).

My favorite Mattson show however was 11/17/11 Wilbur Theater Boston recreating 6/9/76 (Boston Music Hall I believe).

Keep an eye on your woofers peeps!!

As for my favorite show with Jeff at the helm, that's a tough one. Since I can't say all of them, I'll go with:

That Hilton Head show is in the 5 or 6 of my top 3 shows. That was a truly special evening. I think I can dig up an OK recording by a very kind taper who doesn't upload much to the Archive or such sites. PM me if you want.

I loved Dunegrass too. It was like Ledges Lite in the best way! Cornmeal on the stage right next to DSO - all you had to do was pivot to the left...

Calvin Theater, Northampton, 11/20/2009, one of Jeff's early shows. Awesome original set-list.

The night opened in full-fledged '69 zone, with Dark Star --> St. Stephen --> William Tell--> The Eleven, a taste of shows to come. Second set opened with Help on the Way--> Slipknot--> Franklins. Soon we had an extraordinary Cryptical/drums/ space, Spanish Jam / Other One / Cryptical --> Sing Me Back Home. it was a fantastic show which I really wish Eaton had released.

He did release the next night, the great Lowell, MA show.
