Those of us that floated down there for it will NEVER forget standing and clapping with the Grateful Dead at the end of a rainy weekend HEAVEN
Forum MVP Rude Posted September 4, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted September 4, 2012 Rob did you guys go 3rd night as an early 70s style elective set because you couldn't get the drums on the small stage? I actually liked the small stage lights better than the big ones. It was more colorful and really fit the early 70s rocking style.
TerrapinJen
I wasn't even upset when the show ended early due to weather... I was on a huge cloud 9 from the whole weekend and nothing could have brought me down. id rather have the band and fans be safe than try to play chicken with mother nature. mother nature always wins. really really enjoyed the black throated and that's what love will make you do. they really spoke to me and I danced my ass of down in front with waldo and the rest of camp inappropriate. the wrs was incredible as well. one of my favorite moments was seeing the excitement on the bands faces as they played with billy k and George p. their joy became the crowds joy. never heard chimes of freedom live so that was one of my favorite highlights of the weekend. Lisa singing her heart out never fails to give me goosebumps. there's just something about her voice that gets right into my soul so sad this weekend is over.. but I will be back next year without a doubt. and I will bring two friends.. just as walther asked us to do. Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted September 10, 2012 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted September 10, 2012 This show, cut short and all, was what it is in my mind to see the Grateful Dead. Unpredictable, electric, on the spot emotion and energy of the highest level weaving our souls into a giant beam of light to open a hole in the darkness and let light pour through to the other side of the parallel flower garden we tend together. Cold Rain, my oh my. Just dandy indeed. Love standing by lady evangeline for this one cause, as ya'll know, they are just toooooooo adorable when he sings those lines to her and she to him.... lets all have a moment to grin and sigh over the cutest couple ever! hehehehe Uncle was great but when Billy came out the whole place lost it. Despite it all there ain't no place we'd rather be and we let the band know with our jubulient dancing and they let us know with their joyful playing even though it was late and we were all weary and some even feeling mean. Seeing Billy stay up there for next time was great and he just seemed to have so much fun, they ALL did! Black throated is so.... perfect. it's just such a great song. makes one step out of the ego and reexamine some of those moments to realize why we are all friends in the first place- to share our emotions and feeling and intuitions and troubles and joy and to ease each others burden with constant reminders to NOT give into that black throated wind of lies that will tell you to love only that voice and hear only one tune and end things that shoulnd't have the capacity to end. Breathtaking. Um, WHOA now, TWLWMYD was just out of this world I coulda watched that band as another act that weekend for a full hour or so! very cool, ya'll!!!!!!!! Greatest Story reminded us all what we were in the midst of and Box finally doesn't make me cry anymore, it makes me go to another plane of happiness. THAT is healing. that is THIS music. WRS OK PLEASE AND THANK YOU! I knew it would come at some point and it had to be tonight so I had waited for it and heard it coming after the guests left the stage. The band really put their hearts into it and we felt it through and through. Then we grew and grew! I will never forget this second set and how it all went down or the list that wasn't played. Epic. So happy to be a part of it. here comes sunshine just to spit in the face of calamity and welcome the face of mother nature that always comes around as she needs to. as I mentioned in another section, the Chimes really started out confusing the audience, but by the end Lisa and the boys had reached into our guts and clenched our intestines and when they yanked em out in the final chorus we all lost it in glee and pride that we were free FREE! OHHHH THEN cumberland!!!!!!!!!! YEEEHAW! Get on down to them mines! Oh my oh my it was just too good to be true and by good lovin I think this was the best show ever and then.... CELL COMING THRU RUN! lol.... so we hunkered down for what wasn't much and made it back for a bid you that still beats with every beat of my heart because that was one of those dates with destiny moments that those of us standing there all shared and showed up for. fucking A. missing what was to come is fine by me..... another time another day another show! LOVE you all so much it was a pleasure as always and hey, THANKS for supporting the booth, we really had fun staying high and dry with you all on the hill!
