sgrmag2564
Virginia Beach Ocean Front is having "Sandstock" this weekend. Lots of tribute bands playing. There is a band called Cosmic Charlie playing Saturday Night. Has anyone ever heard of them? I'm going down there to check them out. I'm not expecting the caliber of DSO, but I enjoy GD music live. Here's a link for a complete schedule... Peace, Joe http://www.beachstreetusa.com/events/Sandstock-ATributeToRock%2526Roll
Forum MVP Tea Posted June 21, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 21, 2012 I'll be seeing these guys on Friday in Greensboro. They are no where near the caliber of DSO for sure. I have seen them off-and-on since 2008 and they were always a borderline hack-garage-cover band to me. Over the last year or so, while their song selection is far from varied, they have been jamming a bit harder and taking select songs into some pretty interesting directions. They scratch my GD itch a little bit between my DSO binges. Have fun at Sandstock!
Forum MVP gr8fulpair Posted June 21, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 21, 2012 It tough for me. On one hand you want to spread GD music everywhere, but on the other hand you don't want to see it get watered down. I've seen this band also and I'm sure they're awesome people, and they are pretty good musicians, but if you listen to GD or DSO on the way to their show and go in all jacked up, you are going to be disappointed. I tend to be a stickler for detail and execution (which is why I love DSO so much) and I find myself critiquing the music during the show and that gets in the way of my fun. Same way I feel after eating fat-free, sugar-free ice cream. That is just me. If you're not like that, these guys will definitely get you going.
