topher44
Quite a good read, indeed! I'm really glad to see DSO given such favorable reviews as this one, and it is always cool to hear about GD fans discovering the warmth and beauty that DSO brings to the stage. Of course, from a selfish standpoint I certainly hope they don't ever get so big as to be forced to play arenas and stadiums. The intimate settings of smaller theaters, with the occasional fun outdoor show, are just where I like to see them, and I know I am not alone in that opinion. Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted June 15, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 15, 2012 That was a good read indeed. It is always interesting to read about shows from the perspective of someone both knowledgeable and outside our circle. His take on JK, Phil singing "Eyes," other Furthur issues, and the GD band market was well stated. "Perhaps the inclusion of an original set only serves to further fuel the intrigue." Yes, yes it does...
JenL1125
Great review! I loved it. Congratulations, guys and a girl! Beyond being incredibly talented, it takes special hearts and souls to be able to evoke the joy and happiness that you bring out in all of us. Obviously, there's a difference between playing a song, and PLAYING A SONG!!! And DSO rocks them out and puts their personal stamps all over them every time. I never feel like I'm seeing a "cover band", and I don't accept usage of that term in any conversation I'm having about DSO. It just doesn't apply. sudds94
Wow, awesome review!! Congrats DSO!! But, I am selfish also in only wanting smaller, intimate shows. And original set lists ROCK
Stealyourboognish
This is a problem that should be addressed. The band should take notice of this as well. This concerns them. OK, I work a lot at the Tarrytown Music Hall. ( I video tape kids shows there through out the year to the tune of about 60 shows). I was there today and I noticed some damage to the theatre and was told by staff there that this occured at the most recent DSO show a couple weeks ago. For anyone who is familiar with this venue they will know that on the floor on either side of the theatre, there are these wooden sculpture images that line each side of the outer aisles along the walls. They sort of look like fairy tale images with a prince and a princess in each one. Apparently, someone durning the show felt they needed to break the head off of one of these very old sculptures. I don't have to tell you the implications here. Bottom line, the band needs venues to play. What they don't need is anyone defacing or otherwise causing damage to a building that they and we are counting on in the future to go to. (Anyone remember Deer Creek 95) I know its not as bad as all of that but this sort of thing needs to be nipped in the bud so to speak. OK rant over, you may now return to your regularly scheduled long strange trip. This is what the image looks like before the damage: After:
Forum MVP Tea Posted June 18, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 18, 2012 I am relatively sure that no one on this board would show such disrespect for any venue that they see DSO at. That said, we all have a responsibility to call out ANY attendee(s) for anything that we feel is detrimental to the venue and that in any way jeopardizes the ability of the band to play there again. Whomever is responsible desrves to get a slapped upside the head if not worse. We can all agree that we do not want to develop a reputation of disrespect for people and/or property. There are already some grave misrepresentations of who we are and what we are all about and we will all be powerless to change these opinions if shit like this continues. So while most of us on here 'get-it' and would never do something so obnoxious, we all need to stand up and speak up when we see anthing that puts a blight on a scene that needs all the nuturing it can handle. Got it? Good. As an additional deterent, I think it's time to enlist the help of good 'ole Dirty Harry to help get this straightened out. http://www.dsoforums...?showuser=29528
