Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted May 26, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 26, 2012 04/15/89 The Mecca - Milwaukee, WI Set 1: Mississippi Half-Step Feel Like A Stranger Franklin's Tower Walkin' Blues When Push Comes To Shove Queen Jane Approximately Blow Away Promised Land Set 2: China Cat Sunflower I Know You Rider Playin' In The Band Terrapin Station Drums I Will Take You Home All Along The Watchtower Morning Dew Encore: One More Saturday Night Filler: Mr Charlie, Mystery Train Completely amazing. I don't know where to begin. Got my half step with my rio grande i o today since it was my step dad's funeral and it was all I wanted so the energy of the universe bestowed it upon me. Stranger Franklin's was designed to tear the place apart and we never got it put back together by the end of the night. Walkin Blues was sooooo sexy and strong and Queen Jane was breathtaking. NICE Blow Away rap, great to hear all that silly mess come thru for everyone to really get into. Promised land was certainly where we found ourselves by second set. When they did China>Rider the whole place really got into it and the transition got everyone on their feet in time for a wonderful rider (dropped the headlight verse). Stunning the rest of the way through the show it is hard to even speak specifically about the rest because I could barely understand what was happening in front of my eyes, they just nailed Playin and Terrapin to the point where I wanted to just scream best ever and the BIG BIG drums always make this girl so happy to just watch Koritz take control of them and the vibrations of the room. Watchtower Dew, thank you! Such a dirty, searing watchtower just to open into a Dew to really end the world. Wow, WOW. OMSN and its only friday so we are in for it tomorrow!!!!!!! Mr Charlie brought Lisa out but she left again so they did Mystery Train and as it is a fave to see Jeff do it closed my night just right SLEEP called and said I need to meet him soon so talk to ya'll tomorrow! Forum MVP Mango Posted May 26, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 26, 2012 for one time in my life it was quiet during Dew. It was really quite spectacular to witness- Jeff had EVERYONE'S attention. His touch on the "i guess it doesn't matter' line was so sweet, so delicately delivered. The whole show was mild to moderately absurd, starting with the very first song. I mean, come one, half step stranger>franklins to open the show? that's just silly. First time for me seeing Barraco do the Brent-rap on Blow Away. Something about love and a fist and letting it fly....... ....while the first set was VERY strong, the second set was beyond the pale. Easily the best post-74 china>rider i've ever heard. Jeff's solo in the segue jam was absolutely scintillating. At one point the crowd let out a huge roar and I couldn't help but feel extremely proud of the boys up there tearing the roof of that place. Playin was very psychedelic into a breathtaking version of Terrapin Station which Jeff once again tore apart into little shreds and threw into our faces. Love the 80s drums, my favorite. Have been loving Space for the last couple of tours, some interesting conversations going on up there. I have to say that this show is the best 80s that i've seen DSO do, ever. I can't think of a better way to have spent my 200th show with my favorite band than the way we did last night. Fuck yea....lets do it again. Forum MVP found Posted May 26, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 26, 2012 Absolutely, positively amazing show. Completely transcendental and monstorousTerrapin and Dew. Both of them started out so delicate and eloquent and just morphed into this ferocious, beast of a song. Felt like I was just carried away. Half step, stranger, franklins was the perfect opener. Blow away rap was fucking tits. China rider was just a big, raucous hoedown. PITB was nice and drippy. Good filler too.
Forum MVP John A Posted May 26, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 26, 2012 Sounds like a super fun show. An engaging Dew with a coperative audience is indeed something to behold. And when anything is "fucking tits" you know the night is grooving hard. If you check out the 4/15/89 Dead show, you'll find that Phil was fucking tits on Watchtower. MASSIVE loads. Forum MVP found Posted May 26, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 26, 2012 Might I add that I was a little disappointed when we didn't get any Dylan songs for his birthday in Englewood but the two we got last night made up for it. As for the silence during Dew. It was exceptionally quiet. I mean there was absolutely no conversation going on except there were some people doing the "WHOOOO" thing. But I'll take that over some disrespectful conversation anyday. Anyways, very much looking forward to tonight.
Guest crazy digits
The crowd was very observant during I will Take you Home but some rudeness during the Dew was also observed. Thanks DSO. Thanks friends!

Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted June 5, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 5, 2012 I think I have to go with the mango on this fine point. True, the founder was bringing light to us denizens of the dark, so he was doing the Lady's work, but he did tread in darkness. And I for one appreciated it! Forum MVP found Posted June 5, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 5, 2012 Truth be told, I was with Mr. Vegas for the playing in the band where we prayed to the weird beastly looking creature in the doorway. Then I pranced around with Mango and Steph during Terrapin (which as you know Jennayyyyyyyyyy, is also my favorite song. Promise I'll spend the next one with you.) Then I was with you Jennayyyyyyyy during the Dew. But my electric, radiant, sleazy jersey energy permeates the room in a way that I'm with everyone at every moment. I hope that clears up any confusion. I feel like the village whore now.
