Forum MVP found Posted April 13, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 13, 2012 I watched a documentary last night that I'm sure some people here have seen. It's called Rising Low and it's directed by Mike Gordon from Phish. It takes place in the aftermath of the death of Gov't Mule bassist Allen Woody. The rest of Gov't Mule decide to pay tribute to their band mate by making an album where a bunch of his favorite bassists and major influences contribute one track each. The music is fantastic and for anyone who really enjoys getting into the deep end of music, this film is a must see. Very good insight into how to approach music and playing bass. Everyone has their own style and meshes differently with the band. Some of the guest bassists include Phil Lesh, Billy Cox, Les Claypool, Flea, and many, many more. Probably the coolest part about the film was catching DSO's very own Rob B (although with PL&F at the time) contributing a few tracks on the album. Seemed like he was having a great time and playing well. Great film, highly recommend it.
