Guest L~Cat
great setlist last night.... catalyst is a tough venue - horrible acoustics, but I have to say with the new board, it was sounding probably as good as that room can get. its a shame there isn't a better venue in SC.... nonetheless, great fun show, santa cruz knows how to bring it

Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted April 20, 2012 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 20, 2012 going into this show was pretty much a showdown for my life and the wind knew it and I knew it and there was no way I was gonna walk out of this night the same. these kinds of days just happen sometimes. I'm glad I had the wherewithal to take it in and savor each moment. we got to town plenty early to walk around and mingle and shop (was given a free dress and bandanna at one store!) and the air was full of rain but it suited me. my last night of the run would be a rainy one. dude i was supposed to move in with showed up right before the show with some "i don't have a hotel yet" nonsense and i had to waste pre show friend making time to help him deal with it then he had to leave to book the room before 10 so though I knew he'd miss the start of the show I warned him but didn't care cause its his loss and it JUST goes to show! hehe. good times stranger. YES. YES YES. tleo walkin blues!!!! REALLY!?!? at this point hearing tleo was just getting absurd cause it was so obvious to me and mango that it was true yet we were both dealing with our own bs still and..... oh, man, painful. but pretty as heck! walkin blues ramble on stuck inside all just made the FREEDOM movement in my heart reach a true crescendo and as I danced with my future ahead and a million avenues in the past I began choosing without choosing cause dude had shown back up somewhere in there and all kinds of fun moments started crashing around me..... by high time I wanted to scoop mango up and show him just the kind of times in store but the guy was just standing there man and i don't like putting pure sacred moments in the face of dark sadness so mango and i just stole glances and vibed and stared at the band and closed our eyes and danced through the hard times into the high. promised land and my mind trailed back to it being the song that had started this run of shows for me and in that moment of deep personal insight that this night was NOT going to stop led me to realize that i had truly arrived at a crossroads and there were MANY paths out of this diamond eyed jack but mine was gonna have to just come step by step. ok, help slip frank to open this second set and the band was speaking to my feet directly. i was truly caught in the earthly quagmire and had forgotten the clear meadow and help had come though I was tied in which to accept and which I needed and then my wants come thru and somewhere in the center they just ROLL AWAY THE DEW so I knew. prophet. oh yes oh yes prophet. into he's gone just made my whole being complete and THEN they stretched it into a truly stunningly dirty and enjoyable miracle that simply transcended in a beam straight into standing on the moon and i tell no lie the guy actually tried to touch me from behind as my heart became one with the band cause I still couldn't hold mango even though we both knew it was OUR moment for OUR song and as I shrugged the dude off me to keep focus in the music, I felt mango approve beside me and we felt it out in the most beautiful moon moment I have expereinced to date. thank you jeff. thank you all of you. perfection. oh and the good loving was a promise that sent us into joyful laughter and the explosive knowledge that all would soon be as the doctor ordered. my buddy dr randy was there the WHOLE night casting his dance magic on me and mango, so I knew our energies were in good hands. us blues is one of MY FAVES of ALL TIME esp as the sillier selections go so I was stoked it was the encore for my last night. THEN lisa came on stage. I don't know if things would have happened that night as they did if she had not performed this like she did. she took me. I was slapping the rail and shouting and hollering and falling all over myself in understanding of this song in this moment and as we left the venue and the guy ran ahead and mango reached from behind me for my hand as I said "thanks for stopping by..." and he said, "yeah, and blessing your soul," and I sighed saying, "and now you're gone" and we both got SO SAD. I though we were both gonna cry but the show was so good we couldn't so we stayed brave and I got my stuff from his car, stole kisses and walked to my new life....? but the guy within 30 mins of getting to the hotel made it clear he wanted a GIRLFRIEND not a farm hand so I texted mango to pick me up in the morning, doctor randy had great timing and called to bring me music and I told him I was going to the last 3 with mango and he told me he knew from just that one night with us we would be together and he hugged me and blessed our journey and all night the guy tried to convince me that following this music was a dead end path of doom.... and you guys, I just laughed. I laughed and laughed just like I know each of you has done and I told him not only was this music the love of my life, but the only guy out there who loves this band in the same way with the same passion as I do had just taken me on the most magical run of shows in my life and that I would be a fool to do anything but see it through. mango picked me up in the morning, we made it through breakfast with the dude, and as we rode south on the 1 along the ocean we both knew it was only the first of a great many rides we would be taking together. we stopped to look at the seals and an old head told us where the nude beach was (didn't go but it was a cool conversation! lol) and the whole way I just couldn't get over that here I was on the way to the last three shows with the man I've been getting ready for my entire life.... now we're ready and truckin! YES! rest of the reviews tomorrow!
