Multi drum breaks in there. Love GAMH. Band was great as always and multiple face melting jams (DStar, 11, other one, gator, etc.)

Welcome back to SF guys (and girl).

Filler was Hard to Handle, Midnight Hour, Rag > (me having to go to bed).

Long live DSO.

Drums smashing into the Eleven was just so awesome.

Some of the jams in that D Star opener all the way through a scorching Doin That Rag encore (with an enormous Stephen jam at the end of the Hard to Handle before that Rag), this is one of those shows that BLAZED from the first note to the last. One of the most muscular shows I've ever witnessed.

And the sound? Whomever the gentleman is behind that and whatever system that gentleman is steering...god bless you sir. THAT is some of the best sound in that place I've ever heard. Even up front.

You guys and gal turned the Great American Music Hall back 43 years tonight.

For that, you have my eternal gratitude.

Long fucking live fucking Dark Star Orchestra!

(!) (!) (!)

David---aka (mrfelina) :)

There were other songs in there but I can only remember a few with my melted mind this morning. Easy Wind, Operator, Lindy, New Orleans, and one or two others maybe!

Looks like an amazing way to kick off the GAMH 3 day run!

Did they open with the "George Washington Story" as per the setlist on setlist.com?

LOL!

No but I started to tell the string walks into a bar joke, but thought better of it!

Good Lord,,,

Sounds like a lot of melted faces in SF,,,

I hope they take into consideration that the fault lines down there are still active and vulnerable...if they keep up at this pace for the next couple nights I'd be getting concerned how stable the city is!!!!

Happy Friday y'all

Thank you so much Gary for your wonderful videos of this show (and all the other shows you do too)!! As always, even when I can't be there, you make sure I can get a taste of the creamy goodness!!! Here's a little of his China/Rider!! This is just making my morning. :)

I was just this breathless virgin going to the city for my first show in SF and by the time my first '69 crashed landed through my completely unprepared little skull my innocence definitely came into question. For some reason the '43 bicycle anniversary pendant that a dear friend gave me at my first and only Gratefulfest came off though the chain wrapped itself around my arm...

Dark Star as my first song heard in this legendary city at DSO is a synchronicity I won't try to explain any deeper with words, but FEEL me, you guys! That's the kind of first set I NEED for my first '69 now that I live in Cali and at that moment I had NO IDEA where I was going to live or go next, was just hoping on the wind to land somewhere once again but there was NO WAY this band was gonna help me land before taking me for one heck of a ride!

I held out strapping in the unicorn hood til 2nd set but it did no good as the band still stole my face somewhere along cryptical and OH MY GOD (I told this part to my brother who hasn't seen DSO in waaaaay long and he got chills over the phone bc it moved me so much i could transfer the feeling) that DEATH DON'T just scraped my soul right out of my marrow and hung it out for all to see I mean DEATH IS COMING FOR ME AND YOU AND ALL OF US and it really just..... wow, guys, WOW. it's cool man, all good.... that ol alligator don't scare no one anyway but REALLY guys that IS the first song you played when I was at my first show after the moment that I GOT IT THRU YOU and getting it right there just spun me into another universe soooo solid.

The rest of the set just took me into a complete tranced dance space and I think I barely was able to keep my setlist going but somehow managed, mostly because of knowing the music more than really being with it in that moment cause it was hard to concentrate with all that energy expanding music crashing over my skin.

the NEVER ENDING FILLER 3RD SET was about the most amazing thing ever and I think it suited me so extra fine because I had been craving every single one of those songs and it was like they just pulled my brain out onto the stage to show me that light they always do and I know that's selfish but it just felt so damn good! After each song I was like, oh my god they are never gonna stop playing and I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted that sentiment to manifest....! getting down with the crowd at this point was so fun because we had all been thru HELL AND BACK in the first two sets and we all just released the tension in mad joy just like the band did on the stage.

the STAY in SF was the best with old friends that I could barely believe were standing in front of me and each night brought familiar faces closer to me in ways that only seeing this band can do. perfection of a first night, thank you mr photo man for the ticket and we totally just ate that red pepper soup from trader joe's you told us we would love and we surely did!
