Guest L~Cat
So I hear the show was 7 29 74. And funny enough, it has a rare late 2nd set Peggy O snuggled between the around and us blues. Weren't we just talking about this? ;-) Still seems out of place to me, but I guess I should just listen to the show on my own.
Forum MVP Tea Posted March 2, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 2, 2012 While it's easy to find the setlist, I thought I would post it because I am a setlist degenerate. Shocker, right? Here it is - DSO recreated: Grateful Dead Live at Capitol Centre on 1974-07-29 (1) Promised Land, Sugaree, Black Throated Wind, It Must Have Been The Roses, Cumberland Blues, Scarlet Begonias, Jack Straw, Deal, El Paso, To Lay Me Down, Weather Report Suite Prelude-> Weather Report Suite Part 1-> Let It Grow (2) He's Gone-> Truckin'-> Nobody's Fault But Mine-> The Other One-> Wharf Rat-> Spanish Jam-> Around & Around, Peggy-O, U.S. Blues, Sugar Magnolia E: Casey Jones Filler: How Sweet It Is The original had a Phil & Ned interlude which I will assume was not recreated by Kevin and Herbie Hancock. Definitely an interesting placement for Peggy-O as it took the traditional Wharf Rat, Stella Blue, or China Doll slot. I gave it a listen - it was played at a very slow tempo and Jerry left out a stanza or 2. It's good - but the wind came out of the sails after a SCORCHING A&A (usuallly AA falls in the pedestrian category for me - not this one). Have there ever been any other Peggy-O 2nd set placements? DStone?
Forum MVP Mango Posted March 2, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 2, 2012 The first set was very strong particularly scarlet, jstraw, and wrs. I though the second set was pretty good though a little awkward in terms of flow. The Peggy o placement was indeed strange and the tempo slow. I had pretty good dance space and enjoyed myself and the music though some people I went with we're less satisfied. Show didn't really compare for me on any level to ponte vedra, but I get to enough shows that it doesn't upset me- I appreciate the variety. 80s tonight? Excited for an outdoor show:)

I do have a serious question for you though: "Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?" Ok that's it. I'm a loser baby....
