TJed
Wow, LOVE that show! Saw the original and DSO's recreation in 2001 at Lupo's In Providence. My all time favorite post-Keith and Donna show!
DaysBetween
Sugaree was hot and Mexicali had that extra pep via Jeff's dancing notes. Stranger had that early Stranger feel at the beginning and end,yet it still jammed hard in the middle. Rooster was rather good. Promised was one of the better ones I think I've heard recently, maybe ever? Shakedown. Yeah, twas something There were different grooves on that Street than I've ever heard before. Althea had a hilarious vocal flub. I was told the HoB had comedy acts too but this was even better. Rest of the set was more than pleasing but I totally dug the Boogie Woogie Flu, which I hear someone called on the way to the show (?!). Now that's impressive. On to the Newport! Muddy Waters
If I had to guess, I would say 1980 is the least covered year from 73 through 89 by DSO. Just a guess. Anyone want to confirm? Maybe 81?

GermanShepherd
Got there a little late, due to leaving work in Dayton and having to make the drive, check in at the hotel, and find the place. I've never been to House of Blues before, but it was really awesome. Coming in late, the will-call was quick and the pat-down with metal detectors seemed to go rather quickly. The floor was packed, but no lines at the bar. I obtained my first Miller Lite pounder and proceeded to stand in the aisle as close to the stage as I could get, right about the time Stranger ended. All a great first set. At intermission, we ventured upstairs to find a really sweet balcony layout. There were a ton of open seats, should you get tired and want to watch the show comfortably sitting down with a great view. We made it to an Opera Box without even realizing it, and the box owner let us stay. Thanks dude, it was awesome to watch from there and meet everyone. Access to the bar and restrooms was easy. This was a great show and the Rockin Pneumonia filler left everyone in a great mood heading out after the show. The vocal lapse in Althea was humorous and goes to show we all make mistakes, even when you're as good as Jeff and the gang. A fantastic night with no complaints (reference no Dylan tunes). See you at the Newport and Bogarts! Then on to Jam in the Dam. 9/6/80 Maine State Fairgrounds Lewiston ME One: Alabama Getaway > Greatest Story Ever Told ; Sugaree ; Me And My Uncle > Mexicali Blues ; Tennessee Jed ; Feel Like A Stranger ; Friend Of The Devil ; Far From Me > Little Red Rooster ; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider > The Promised Land Two: Shakedown Street ; Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance ; Althea ; Playing In The Band > Uncle John's Band > Space > Drums > Space > Not Fade Away > The Wheel > Uncle John's Band > Playing In The Band >Sugar Magnolia Encore: One More Saturday Night > Brokedown Palace Filler: Rockin' Pneumonia and Boogie Woogie Flu
Forum MVP Mango Posted February 17, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 17, 2012 Great fun last night. Awesome dancing upstairs. I certainly enjoyed myself. German Shepard, I want to meet you tonight and give you a lecture on how great Bob Dylan is.

Forum MVP Teacher Matt Posted February 19, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 19, 2012 if we went per % .... 4 shows the Dead did in '75 .... if DSO knocked out 2 of those we are standing at a tough to beat 50% My guess is 85 and 86... Oh looky!! A second set Althea!! (drool) according to the post game locker room interviews it looks like even though the team came away with a win a soldier was lost during Althea... the magnitude of the injury has not been officially released by said team .... Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted February 21, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 21, 2012 I guess we won't count 75 and I intepreted least covered as shows total and not percentage of shows played from that year. The 2nd set shakedown was super dancy funky fun. We had an epic dance party on the balcony level. We couldn't see the band, but the sound was great. During Shakedown, even got to boogie down with Lisa. Thought the whole show was great and found my eventual dance space (thanks mango) sometime around stranger and we were able to really mix it up. I was a hot sweaty mess by the end of the show so overall I have to say the show was fantastic. DSO really succeded in getting me moving and I wasn't the only one. I'm happy I was able to catch a good chunk of this tour and although I have Florida fantasies, I'm thinking this is it til West Coast tour.
