Terrapin_Sedation
As long time Deadheads....my wife and I met at Spectrum Spring 1986.... family life intervened about 1990. We didn't exactly get off the bus, but we sure weren't frequent riders. Saw one show in 1995 (Visions of Johanna). Then saw the Furthur Festival in 1997.(Actually reviewed it for local newspaper).....then that was it.....Phil and Who? Rat What? Then I became aware of DSO about 6 years ago when they came to a venue in Harrisburg. Boy we should go, I said to my wife. But we didn't. Then they came to Mt. Hope Winery one spring night. Just 15 minutes from the homestead. So we went. Long story short, mind blown.....back on the bus. All because of DSO.....Fell in love again. Made it to several shows at Penn's Peak...my favorite....Loved it when Furthur recruited JK...Saw the baton passed to JM at Thanksgiving 2009 so I wasn't worried about DSO. But we hadn't seen you guys in more than 2 years. Mostly because of circumstances, and not the desire. Anyway....Thursday night. Electric Factory..........the word that comes to mind is humanahumanahumanah....Just a wonderful experience. So thanks. Without you guys, I don't know if we ever would have found our bus seats again...the ones in the back for the bumpy ride. Happy New Year...Hope to see you soon. deadfan
Much to agree with you Terrapin St. DSO, like other bands incl the GD, have evolved and continue to do so. Mattson is absolutely incredible as is Rob. I really like the way Eaton tears up Bobby songs and experiments with feedback. Barraco? Well certainly he is a grate grate part of DSO. Did you all know he plays a killer Bass? I saw him at Sullivan Hall last year with Mattson and low and behold there he was playing the bass and playing it well. I have thanked DSO for continuing the music of the Grateful Dead and allowing us to experience shows we never had a chance to and experience the good old sound of the GD. I have so much in this world to live for and to be happy about now that the music of the GD is making a come back...there are literally more bands out there playing this music than any other band in history (not a factoid but my belief, including the Beatles etc.). The music along puts a smile to my face and happiness in my heart and for as long as that exists...I am good! ... I am GRATE! Following DSO has been a tough thing from way up near Lake Champlain to Way down south in Washington D.C. My poor mini-van has seen much mileage and has breathed many a different air. My love for the music is strong and not about to fade away anytime soon. DSO brings us back to the old day as well as experiments within their own versions of the GD. So a million, billion cajillion thanks to all of you!
