Guest L~Cat
Just wanted to send out a big congrats to the band and crew.....2000 shows over 14 years is huge considering its not just 2000 shows, its 2000 load ins, sound checks, hundreds of thousands of miles and weeks living on a bus, but a whole lot more smiling faces because of what you all do. Thinking of everyone tonight and wishing all of you and the folks who made the pilgrimage to Ithaca a fabulous night. Knock 'em dead sending love, Lisa
Forum MVP Island Bro Posted November 20, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 20, 2011 I second that emotion... I continue to be amazed that ANY touring band could reach this milestone...particularly in a relatively short amount of time.... Other than GD,,,,it's got me curious....are there any other other touring bands that HAVE reached 2000 shows?? I can't think of any other band of any genre of music that would even be all that close to this number of shows....maybe there are examples of local jazz musicians playing their weekly gigs in their same venue week after week year after year, but can anyone think of a full band that has hit 2000 shows by touring throughout the land?? (other than GD of course...) Anyway,,,what a great moment to appreciate the band and crew as well as all of us who love to fully show up for this strange muscial trip that miraculously continues to be flourishing right on into 2012.... tide
I had the pleasure of attending the Boston show this past Thursday. Wow, words cannot describe. I'm so grateful, no pun intended, to be able to hear such amazing shows live. And from eras I wasn't around for. I was only 3 when the original Boston Music Hall show was played. Incredible that I get to experience such magical music. This particular show had so many highlights, where to start? But St. Stephen-->Eyes. Wow, and what an Eyes. Anyway, congratulations on 2000 shows and keep on truckin'. And I hope Boston continues to be a place to launch great tours! (: Thanks DSO! It really is a gift to be able to go experience this music again as it was meant to be heard.

Forum MVP Tea Posted November 21, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 21, 2011 DSO sure has withstood the test of time. This is a testament to their tireless dedication to the music we all hold dear. You don't reach such a milestone by standing still, you do so by adapting, evolving and sacrificing. The band has never sounded better and each tour somehow gives us more than we had the season before. Simply unbelievable! I will let the late Bill Graham help me with this statement. "The greatest rock-n-roll band there ever was, Dark Star Orchestra!" A big thank you to the crew and management of the band as well. They deserve a HUGE thank you for their wonderful efforts. Here's to the next milestone!
Forum MVP anddave Posted November 21, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 21, 2011 Congrats to ALL DSO past and present, from Tiny to those new guys from that Dao Prankster band, from that guy who owns Martyrs, Cameron, Nick, techs past and present, the Dude, the famous Rotisserie, all the friends who patiently remind the reluctant that "you really should see this band", et cetera et cetera et cetera. Scott is sure to be busting his buttons with pride for you all! Nicely played! Looking forward to that winter swing.
