Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted November 18, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 18, 2011 goodness, guys! just listened to this show the other day cause its dude's bday show from my fave year and we all enjoyed it SO much and I joked "DSO will play it for us now" and we made EVERY plan in the world to be there tonight just to have it fall thru and I just find the synchronicity too silly to not show gratefulness for. AWESOME. That just means we'll be out there ASAP.... this tour is CALLING us, pretty directly, evidently. LOVE! hugs and kisses and all that, too!!!!!!!!!!! (gonna be dancing in spirit from DNB all weekend cause I'm finally forcing everyone out to a run of shows.... gotta build new habits slowly in people hehe)
Guest Flamingo
This was the first time I heard DSO. My husband and I were so looking forward to this. Unfortunately, our seats were in the nosebleed section and everyone around us wouldn't shut up. Incessant chattering the entire time we were there. Not just a few people but EVERYONE. Don't people come to the concert listen (and dance!)? Because of this background noise, we couldn't hear the music very well and left at intermission. Band was awesome, but next time, I will make sure I get tickets nearer to the stage. Is this normal for DSO? Haven't really experienced this for any other band that i can remember. rowe
I remember being at that show like it was yesterday...begging for tickets and sneaking in the side door at the last minute. The jam out of St. Stephen was especially unique and lengthy and I just loved the Eyes in reverse with the Aflat minor part and jam coming first. Sorry I missed this one, but looking forward to tonight. Rowe
Forum MVP August West Posted November 18, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 18, 2011 Goodness Gracious, that sick show cracks my top 5. One of the best versions of Eyes I've ever heard. I don't know how the hell they're gonna top that show, and the energy they had last night, but I'm sure somehow they will. I guess I'll find out. On to Northhampton, looking forward to seeing my friend Blythe, it's been awhile. At least the weather is better today. It was frigin cold, and rainy yesterday with a wicked NE wind. That long drive from Jersey was brutal. Just a relatively short trip today, Bix will keep me entertained. Safe travels everyone. Later.

HEY I feel ya on that one. I was lucky enough to have a friend steal a bunch of wristbands so we could get on the floor. This a problem that you encounter when you put a DANCE CONCERT in a THEATRE. I'm sorry your experience wasnt what it should have been. Definitely come.back!
Muddy Waters
left at intermission. Rookie mistake..agree that the chatter can be irritating but most likely it would have melted away as the Second Set progressed.. 76 Show....Stay the Course!!!!! I am very sorry to hear this but many do not have the respect this music deserves. I admittantly ( sp ) snuck my way down to floor and spent the night on or around the rail and the sound was perfect! Thanks Cotter! The band was as good as I have heard them in all the years hearing them play. Their dedication and concentration to be the best grateful dead band on the planet is clear as day. You kind folks, please come back and make it a point to get up close. Truthfully, most venue's security is not as anal as last night. ... Some feel they must control the crowd which is a shame in my opinion. They"re are plenty of folks who are just as happy to spend their time in the noses bleeds talking out of control! THANKS DSO!!! Forum MVP gr8fulpair Posted November 19, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 19, 2011 Rookie mistake..agree that the chatter can be irritating but most likely it would have melted away as the Second Set progressed.. 76 Show....Stay the Course!!!!! Right on, was at a show where the fire alarm went off during Deal. Band kept playing, crowd kept dancing - pretty soon, the fire alarm had blended nicely into Rob B.'s keyboard. Had sort of rhythmic beep, beep, beep to it. Harder for some than others, but close your eyes and focus on the music and the chatter will melt.... Very sorry your experience wasn't what you'd hoped. Seated shows make it difficult - go again and find your own spot, soak it up...
Dancin' Fool
Perhaps the most energetic show I have attended. 1st set on floor, in front of Jeff/Barraco; second set in balcony, where I could not only hear it better, I could FEEL it better! Brought two newbies, who were both blown away. So Liz pulls out the Compendium today and begins to read the review of this particular show, and then tells me that it was written by Jeff. The only Franklin's encore. See ya in Providence + Portland!

Still Truckin
TOTALLY MAGICAL!! The Boston Music Hall, the original Dead venue for this show, is right next door to the WiIbur, where DSO recreated this gem. This one's extra special for me --- the original was my first show on relocating from NYC to Beantown; and my first DSO show -- on 4/27/2000 at the Somerville was indeed this self-same show. Spectacular shows all from the bands beyond description. Regarding the crowd noise (boo), I remember as clear as an acid flashback the guy in the balcony of the Musical Hall in 76, droning "F***YOOUUU" over and over and over between the sets. We were afraid to even look at him. Then St.Stephen smote him. Thank you DSO for the recreations!!! You're like a frakking time machine!

Forum MVP found Posted November 21, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 21, 2011 Piping hot, smoking show. The whole show was fucking sick and completely phenomenal. Had a feeling they'd open up the tour with one of the Boston Music Hall 76 shows and they picked the best one of the bunch. Every song was played with so much fervor and I absolutely love how both sets are arranged. Since every song was so good I'll just state what i thought were the 5 or so best songs of the evening. First and foremost, the eyes was fucking crazy. Like the original show, they must have did the eyes jam for a good 8 minutes... at least. Lots of peaks in that jam. Crazy Fingers was transcendental and blissful. The St. Stephen was a great set opener with a lot of energy exchange between the band and the crowd. High Time and Wharf Rat were so passionate. The whole band was fantastic. Lisa's vocals on Scarlet and her harmonies were perfect. Eaton did a great job with his songs especially Looks Like Rain, Let It Grow, Music Never Stopped, Big River, and Dancing in the Streets. I heard Kevin has been having trouble getting his bass to sound just how he likes it but i gotta say he has been playing some FAT stuff. Laying it down hard. Very, very good stuff. Best I've ever heard him. Same goes for the drummers. I think Koritz and Dino are playing better together now than i can ever remember. They're always on the same page. And I had the distinct pleasure of being right in front of Mr. Barraco. His piano work was awesome. Great solos and a great jam in Crazy Fingers. This was my favorite show of the weekend and to be honest, one of the best DSO shows I've probably ever seen.
