Forum MVP lookyloo Posted October 16, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 16, 2011 What a rare treat to see an acoustic DSO show in such an intimate setting. From the get go you could tell this was going to be something different. It was all confirmed when everyone took the stage and Rob Eaton took a minute to let everyone know how much they look forward to playing acoustic. Don't get me wrong, I wish DSO would've sold 5000 tickets in the main concert hall, but Sunday night in Colorado Springs is a tough sell for any band. I was really enjoying the talent on stage and just when I thought it was great....it got greater with Lisa belting out Strange Man, GET OUT OF TOWN!!! Lisa has got PIPES!!!! The 1st set was amazing, finished with a strong WRS, one of my favorites. So the 2nd set starts of with a ripping Midnight Moonlight and seemed to gather energy the whole way through leading up to a band/crowd Happy Birthday to new papa Koritz. Yes, I am proud to be an Okie from Muskogee and more proud to be a Starhead. I'm listening to the show again right now and am finding all these special musical gems, these guys really brought their A Game!!! I really appreciated how Cotter kept the sound at the perfect level so that nobody would talk. It sounded great but if anyone started talking 20 people would turn in unison and stare them into silence. DSO is on FIRE!!!! Love you guys!!! Forum MVP Evangeline Posted October 16, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 16, 2011 I so agree! The acoustic shows are rare and beautiful gems. I was not at the show, but luckily it is up on archive.or so I was able to listen. Beautiful from start to finish. and the Two Souls in Communion is heavenly! Major cudos to Lisa and Rob B. for the gorgeous vocals on that one!!
cusnjohn
Some other highlights: Black Throated Wind (Eaton always nails this) Strange Man was clearly the high point of the set. Rosa Lee McFall Let Me Sing Your Blues Away (how many times a year do they dow this one?) Second Set: Two Souls in Communion (duet style) just jaw dropping! Bird Song>Ripple It was so nice seeing them relaxed and easy going. All four singers got the whacks in. They even played songs not on the set list. Would love to see them return here. Older crowd, no more than 220, with only a few drunken college types and the occasional hairy hippy with lack of bounderies. One of the top 3 out of around a dozen DSO shows for me. Best of all I believe the band enjoyed themselves as much as the audience.
