Blindman
Cornell... Filler: Cats So the list speaks for itself. Great B-day party. Couple thoughts.. The HOB venues have great sound and amenities. Capacity was 50% so plenty of dance room. Rob shined huge on all the tunes he should have... Lightning jam, Dancin jam, estimated, etc... The bigger impact (since this was my first show since spring tour) is how tight the band was. Lovely Lisa, Rob and Dino on the drums, so tight. Kevin and his hollow body Jack Casady Epiphone... The whole show was an A+ The band is healthy and strong and a blast to the soul. A pure blessing. The crowd (once again) was a bit paralyzed by the power of the music. Just wish they would be respectfully quiet during the Dew (come on SD, represent the West Coast!!). Happy birthday brother. I hope you invite us to your 60th as well. See you all in the City next weekend.

See you all in the City next weekend. Great feedback Blindman! While 5/8/77 gets more than it's fair share of run for reasons we are all aware of, the song selections by themselves are right in the wheelhouse of the band. You put it well by reflecting on the power of the sound and how it may have caught more than a few flat-footted. I too got caught in this vortex during the summer run and found myself adapting to being in a full-groove while my jaw remained flat on the ground. My groove used to be right in step with the music, now I need to try harder to keep up and withstand the whiplash from all the directions the band takes the sound. I thought the left coast folks were above such things as party-talk during a Dew (or any other ballad for that matter) . Hopefully it was just an aberration...... Sounds like a great kick-off to the tour and a great night to celebrate Rob's birthday. Remember Rob, 50 is the new 30 > keep on keepin on!
