Advisory Board Herdygerdy Posted September 19, 2011 Author Advisory Board Report Share Posted September 19, 2011 Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!! I can't thank you enough! Unfortunatly the surgeon who was supposed to be her main doctor for the surgery, had to run out of town for a family emergency... Apparently his mother died and now my mother doesn't know when he will be back. Just got the phone with my mom, and she's really getting upset which is making me upset. I tell you, this whole ordeal is really testing my emotions. Anyway, I'l let you all know when she gets her appointment for her surgery so we can all send her some good vibes. Again, thank you all so much for keeping my mother and myself in your thoughts and prayers. I love you all!!
Advisory Board Dr. Barry Posted September 20, 2011 Advisory Board Report Share Posted September 20, 2011 Just saw this and of course I am seriously focusing my thoughts and wishes in the direction of the Herd. One thought that comes to mind for a different aspect of such news is this; With such severe, both sided, plaque buildup with almost complete blockage... Mom's "risk" of the worst outcome would have been not knowing and doing nothing. That would have absolutely resulted in a shortened lifespan. Have faith in the Surgeons and the surgery but stay close if you can while Mom is in the hospital. Be aware of her hospital routines (meds, activities, diet), speak clearly with the doctors after they do their rounds in the early AM. That is where you will easily find them and ask questions. Write down your questions. The Residents and Nurses can't really give you alot of info. The Surgeon is the best person for answers and info. Unless an emergency avoid surgery on Friday or the weekends... Donuts and Bagels (assorted with light cream cheese and plastic knives) are the "currency" of all Health Care Institutions (HCI's). Thus, delivered at the start of a shift will purchase goodwill and better care for your Mom. Know her Nurses name. Nurses are the difference. Advisory Board Herdygerdy Posted October 5, 2011 Author Advisory Board Report Share Posted October 5, 2011 Mom got out of the hospital today, and she is doing well... still in a bunch of pain, but that's to be expected... now she doesn't have to worry about any sorts of amputations,or heart attacks, and I don't have to worry about being the executor of her will (hopefully for atleast another 40-50 years!) Thank you one and all for giving such wonderful support over the past 2-3 weeks, and I just can not express my gratitude!! I love you all!!!
