Blindman
Thx Lisa for the post. Always good for the local goods. Perfect heads up on 9/18 as I live in Lafayette and easily could've missed this considering it's free and at 1p... Come on out and enjoy the east bay. Always a good time. On a totally separate note, anyone heard anything about "The Eleven"? A new bay area tribute band and the YouTube stuff sounds good enough to check out. formed this summer, playing Sausalito on 9/2 and the Haight on 9/4. Just wondering.... GD music at a Wine festival.... I mean its sort of a no-brainer...you all know how much of a drunk I am. As far as The Eleven- I don't think I have heard anything about them but there may have been a post about them on the santa cruz dead dance page. Thanks for pointing that out. Also over Labor Day weekend is the Monte Rio music festival- JGB, Hot buttered rum, and a bunch of other bands. And I believe Stu may be showing up. One local band that is super fun is Shady Groove- santa cruz based. They only play a few times a year but they are a blast- play mostly JGB stuff but throw in other covers as well. I couldn't find a youtube link but here's something from the archive http://www.archive.o...11-02-12.flac16.

Forum MVP John A Posted September 18, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted September 18, 2011 You know, I gotta be honest. I gave Front Street a shot in Fairfax on Friday and I could not get into it on any level. Even Stu and They Love Each Other couldn't save 'em. Maybe it was a bad night, maybe I have too much Europe '72 surging through me. Whatever it was, I couldn't make it 1/2 way through the 1st set. Touch, Rooster (particularly brutal, IMHO), TLEO, Me & My Uncle->outta there for a Pliny The Elder next door at Sleeping Lady! Never made it back for set II. Ah well, I'll save my live Dead fix for DSO in Guerneville.
Blindman
Lafayette was fun today. Beautiful weather, basically perfect. There was an ok crowd for the show that got bigger towards the end. I love music from 1-3p then a couple IPAs for the afternoon Niners-Cowboys finish. Plus they had a sound board that made everything sound good. Wasn't DSO by any stretch but looking forward to the San Diego opener on Thurs. It'll be a great week. For a group of guys that gets little rehearsal time and does not gig regularly, have other jobs, I think they sounded great! All super nice guys too and always appreciative of the dancers. Had a fun time- nice to hang with my gals and see a couple folks from these parts who I haven't seen in some time. I don't remember the rooster, and I was sober, so I'm guessing it was unremarkable, but the eyes second set was yummy! I actually liked the setlist today better, albeit a one set show. lots of fun in the sun. and for you gear heads- stu has himself a new toy- moriarty guitar. I know absolutely nothing about guitars, but its beautiful and has a sweet robin on it- feathers look like abalone.

A friend who stayed for the 2nd set said they thought it was much better than the 1st.
