Earthquake

At around 1355 hours I was in my 3rd floor office in New Brunswick, New Jersey and all of a sudden the building shook. I'm like holy shit that just felt like an earthquake. It's not like were used to them on the East Coast, but it was confirmed as one shortly after. I just heard on the news that there was a 5.9 reported near Interstate 64 in Richmond, and that the tremors reached all the way to NYC.....I suppose because it was so shallow. Anyone else on the East Coast feel that?

Freaked me the f*ck out! I am in Central NC - I was wondering why I felt like I was swaying so I grabbed the arms of my chair and sure enough, the floor was moving side-to-side. Then the blinds started swaying too. My first thought was....Flashback. The second, maybe it was an earthquake. Turns out it was door #2.

I now understand those left-coasters who talk about experiencing earthquakes from time-to-time. it was a first for me and it freaked me good. Thankfully, no major damage was done although I understand Richmond, VA has experienced some collapsed walls in some of the downtown structures.

First an earthquake......and now a hurricane on the way. Enough already.

Sureal experience on the east coast, especially in a monster hotel 50 miles from the center.

I grew to accept on the other coast.

It was the first time for me, too, and the quake caused quite a stir here at the office. We are in a single-story building, on a slab, and I initially thought I was experiencing a "flashback" from the past weekend, when I had a stomach virus that left me feeling weak and a bit dizzy. However, it was the swaying of the walls and blinds that convinced me that it could only be from an earthquake, as there was no explosion or other loud noise anywhere in the vicinity, and no workers on the roof. My colleagues were running around like headless chickens, not sure of what to do, even though nothing was damaged, and it lasted only a few seconds. I must check in with friends in DC when I get home, as they will most likely have some jucier stories to tell!

God's punishment for getting all the good shows and not sharing with the Midwest. wink.gif

That is a point. But what will the excuse/justification be when the New Madrid fault yawns wide and the Mississippi flows backward?

I was able to feel it all the way in Kalamazoo! I was leaning on my desk at work when all of a sudden I felt it wobble. I was satisfied to find out I wasn't crazy when my coworkers said they felt the same thing.

Personally, I think cm_hayden is right. Maybe this is a sign that DSO needs to play a three-night run at Bell's Brewery. It's the only fair way to respond.

Maybe not Bell's , but Bell Fountain in Ohio in Sept. Come on down and let's create our own peaceful earthquake

That is verry funny stuff - no doubt a left-coaster saying......pussies.

Interestingly, here is a picture of thousands of frogs scrambling away from an epicenter of 7.8 quake.......A WEEK BEFORE it struck. Key the Twilight Zone theme Jerry:
