Playin' in the Band

Around and Around

filler Rueben & Cherise (but I think they might have played another because I saw NIck bring out another mic stand but we left to avoid the drunk drivers)

The band was on FIRE. Jonah and I had a wonderful time. Got there early enough to set up our camper chairs on the little rising looking right at the stage. Cotter had Kevin's bass just booming, loved it. Dino and Rob can hit those drums like nobody's business the early drums/jam was a treat. Everyone seemed to be really gelling, it was a wonderful show!

the original show by the grateful dead was an interesting one. Reportedly,Weir was so sick for the second set that the band started without him. Thus the jam-> drumz to start. Being the professional that he is, Bobby soldiered through and did his best!

See y'all at Quixotes.... can't wait!

Guest crazy digits

This is one of my all time favorite GD concerts! Second set was epic and thanks for inside info about Weir. It explains the weirdness of the show. I have a great recording of the second set....world to give, being my favorite and have always wondered why they barely played it ( 3 times I believe? )

uh, roses and lazy lightning in the first set and I was in my car? LAME! really, though, its fun to get "deadhead karma" when going to DSO and have to do things like turn around more than once, get your car window smashed, your house get robbed, or whatever because these things ONLY happen when DSO is doing a recreation.... and then people have CRAZY stories about stuff that happened to THEM at those shows and it really makes me wonder sometimes.... not that these occurrences are the norm, it just seems like it only happens to us when we go and they do a recreation. but there are OF COURSE way more GOOD THINGS that happen at EVERY show, so these minor hiccups of craziness just really make the story for the future.

ANYWAY, after playing the turn around game all afternoon, we got there at set break and the people at the door were SOOOOO nice that they understood our plight and let us in on a 2 for one deal! THANK YOU MISH, you didn't have to do that. We got in and were pleasantly surprised at just how many people we knew all around and when we made it up front I was really happy to see that I knew all but 2 or 3 of the 20 faces up there. Beautiful faces.

Second set kicked in and it was fun and confusing with the jam and drum thing then the jack a roe was very swarthy and sea worthy and different which took me off the shore a little quicker than i was prepared for (coming in at 2nd set blows, you don't have a chance to get in the groove, but it is AWESOME cause, well, like Jon's shirt that night, 'i heart 2nd set').

playin' ALWAYS makes me happy, ALWAYS, so I was happy I hadn't missed it. shakedown was GREAT, def the upbeat song everyone was raving about the rest of the weekend. i even tried to do my unicorn poke arounds finally with my hat, though my technique still needs some work, but it was a good first effort. lol. yeah.

if i had the world to give........... THANK YOU JEFF. we LOVE IT when you do this song. i mean, LOVE IT. We always think of your lady and how she smiles at you in the front when she is there with us and we giggle and hold each other and almost cry every time and Jon always tries to squeeze my breath right out of me just before the music gives us a break to dance alone before we embrace again.... sigh.... perfect.

and I must say, whenever it is coming out of something super awesome like that world to give then playin reprise into around and around, I ALWAYS think of Joseph, because he always twirls his finger at such times and SOMETIMES he thinks its the WHEEL and others AROUND and AROUND and I forgot to look at him this time, but I am sure he did it, and I am thinking if you do that when its 70s you prolly have a 50% chance of it being one or the other.... that's funny shit.

perfect filler, you guys always make us sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy.

THIS would have been our favorite night of the three nights, we feel, if we'd been there first set. go figure :)

camping after DSO when it is not even a festival is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay COLORADO!
