Prayers, Please

Just found out upon ultrasound some lumps/nodules were found in my mom's thyroid. Not typically a big deal as they are fairly common, however she has one mass that is solid and her mother died from thyroid cancer about 20 years ago (around the same age my mother is now). Biopsy will be scheduled for next week.

I know we have a strong community of folks who are always sending out love to those who need it so, please send some prayers out in hopes that its a benign mass. Being a researcher by day, of course I am already digging up all the stats. Its not too scary, but its my mom and she's far away from me right now and I know she's freaked out. Thanks :-)

Lisa, your Mom is in our thoughts! FYI, I know two people who have been successfully treated for thyroid cancer in the last two years. Medicine in that area is much better now than 20 years ago, so think good thoughts, as we all will!! <3

thanks all so very much. Its appreciated more than I can put in words. We won't know anything until after the 24th of this month...that is the soonest they could get her in for biopsy. Until then, I have lots of dancing to do and someone special to do it for.

lots of love

Hi all,

Thanks so much for the love. Well so far so good- got blood test results back today and thyroglobulin levels look good, which is great news. It doesn't completely rule out cancer, but it rules out the more common types. She'll have the biopsy on the 24th and hopefully we can rule out cancer completely at that point. It still may require surgery but not a big deal.

love you all!
