Guest Badgerboy
Whats the camping like at this festival? Are there different areas? Is it all woods? can you camp by your car? Is there designated family camping? Whats the poison ivy scene? im allergic so i try to avoid it if possible. Are there areas where people stay up later (as in playing music camp fires raging?) Any tips for camping here? Thanks all!
Captain Sunshine
Camping is the best of any festival, in my opinion! It's mostly all shaded camping, but there are areas where it's not. But for the most part, it's wooded shaded camping. Yes, you camp by your car, unless you get there on one of the last few days where they cannot let any more cars in. Then you'll usually have to park across the street or something (I've never had to since I get there early), but if you get there on the first few days, you'll be ok. The whole campground is family camping, but I believe there's a quieter area (maybe by a fishing pond or something?).. They were going to direct us there last year since I was super pregnant, but we opted to find a spot by our usual area. If you want quiet at night, i recommend staying away from the "warzone" area, which is the road along the quarry. It can get pretty crazy at night. The beach is the best bet for late-night raging. There's drum circles and fire twirlers, and all kinds of funness! Also the second stage has late night acoustic acts going on. Poison ivy can be bad if you're going into the woods (to pee or something, ha). I would just keep an extra eye out and not wonder into the non-pathed areas. I had it a few years back all festival (I wasn't sure if I got it there or right before the fest at home), but I was MISERABLE! Hope that helps! I'm sure others will have more tips for ya! See ya there!

Guest Badgerboy
Yeah bug spray is going to be pretty important. I got pison ivy soup, so i guess if i think i stepped in it i can just wash off. War zone sounds like my kind of place, I like to rage the night, but I don't want to bother anyone so I try and camp away from families and older folks trying to chillax. DO IT UP! Cant wait, wish the set times would come out. I wont be getting down there till mid day on friday hope I don't miss much....

The staff usually directs where you will camp by Friday. Friday tentative schedule per nlqp: Friday: about 3pm with SpikeDrivers about 4:20 Cornmeal 8pm DSO
Guest Badgerboy
Interesting. Most of my crew will be down there already so I am hoping they can just save me a spot. But seeing as though music might be going down around 3pm I might be trying to get out of ann arbor at 7am. I need to get everything set up and in place sit down and crack a couple beers before its time to range. Last corn meal show I saw was pretty sweet. hopefully they bring daaa heat

We you arrive at NLQP, tell the people on the main road you need to go to campsite #(?) as your friends are saving you a spot. If you don't tell them, you will be forced to camp where they tell you. The earlier you arrive, the less of a line to get into the venue.

The longer you wait to show up (the later in the weekend you arrive), the more likely it will be that you may have to park across the road and pay an extra fee to park (sort of a penalty for not carpooling maybe... four people carpool in one vehicle, or four people drive seperate cars big difference). Good luck!
