Having recently seen her HBO special for the second time, I have to say that I can understand what all the fuss is about with Lady Gaga.

I wanted to dismiss her as the latest industry-packaged, computer-generated non-"musician" (a la brittney spears). But I was wrong.

The girl has vocal chops galore, balls the size of Manhattan and enough creativity to color the planet in rainbow hues. Not to mention that she professes (nor appears) to never lip-synch during her shows, all the while basically doing the equivalent of a kick-boxing/dance class while wearing 5-inch platform shoes.......never missing a beat.

Lastly, though she definitely enjoys dancing down the road that Madonna paved, her hooks are potent and catchy as hell.

She ain't hard on the eyes either........check out the HBO special........you may surprise yourself when you go to turn up the volume.

See everyone at Grateful Fest.

Well...

As long as you were willing to chime in first on this, I had almost the same experience and reaction as you. She is definitely unique and has loads of talent.

It is rather refreshing to see and hear someone who is getting a huge audience who doesn't use the same tired formula of so many contemporary "artists" these days with the insipid synthesized instrumental backtrack to their crappy singing and lyrics. I had almost given up on the idea that anyone could do anything creative anymore with the music industry in the current state it has been in for many years.

She also was interviewed on 60 minutes recently and comes across as a very interesting, likable, and honest person. Genuinely eccentric, but there ain't anything wrong with that!

 ...I fear this may not be sarcasm. If only there were some way to know for sure. Same thing I always say, ditch the costumes and other tripe and let the music do the talkin.

I concur, ditch the costumes and tripe and her act would be hot. I think HBO may have to move it to late night, though.

She was on Letterman the other night, I thought "wonder what this whacko's up to" I was pleasantly amazed! She came off as intelligent and with a great sense of humor. She wore a "Mardis Gras" type mask, black leather jacket and panties, she said she put on her outfit and the only thing she liked was the jacket - so that's what she wore. Cracked me up!

While I am definitely not a fan of pop/dance music, she definitely seems to have a gameplan and knows what she is doing. The fact that she writes her own songs and actually plays instruments is definitely a plus. For that genre of music, there are probably a million acts out there that wish they had the musical chops and direction that she has going for her. I definitely can see her writing #1 hits for other people for many years to come, if she ever decides not to perform anymore.

I just don't like the Madonna comparisons. Yes, her schtick is definitely Madonna 2.0. However, Gaga actually can write her own songs and play her instrument. Plus, from what I've seen, she doesn't keep all of her songs in the same key like Madonna does.
