Dalton
This year will be my first Grateful Fest for me and a few friends and I am only 17. My friends are both 18 but I read on NLQP's website that "Due to many problems, we are now having to put a 18 and over age limit on camping(unless with parent or legal guardian). This will NOT include day swimming." Can anyone shine some light on if it's gonna be a problem for me to get in with my friends since I'm 17? michelle
I'd say call the park. From the nlqp site "call us 9am-7pm East time (440) 548-2716." But, I'll be there this weekend and will try to ask someone who knows something and let you know by next Tuesday

Hedges
Dalton. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but i doubt highly that you are getting in. Hopefully Michelle will prove me wrong on tuesday but i would be shocked if that is the case. A rule is there for a purpose. I've been at the gate when a car came in and someone in the car was under 18. They were told that the person in question could not come in without a legal guardian. When they complained that they were from out of state (they had WV plates) the gate told them it was "not our problem" - which it wasn't. The car had to turn around. Maybe that rule is more relaxed these days but with everyone so "sue" happy and with the heat busting people for smiling on a cloudy day - i would expect this rule to be more enforced not relaxed. Hopefully i am wrong and by all means keep trying to find a direct answer .... but expect not to be let in without legal reps.

Forum MVP anddave Posted June 9, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 9, 2011 Dalton, apart from Evan himself, the two most qualified opinions you can possibly get on this matter are Hedges and Michelle. Whatever they say you should take seriously. I will bet cash money that they know the scene there better than any other poster here. ...and best of all I don't pay prrrroperty tax!! Octal
Does there need to be valid identification? Or could someone just get some random guy to pretend to be their father/mother?
Forum MVP Michael Doc Watson Posted June 10, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 10, 2011 Does there need to be valid identification? Or could someone just get some random guy to pretend to be their father/mother? Often there are means that people find to get around various rules, weither the rule being something like a young person drinking a beer or a CEO of a big corporation ripping off all the pension funds for his own. In the short time these people get away with the simple violation but what path does that set them off on in their mind? The best thing to do is figure out what is Truely the Right thing to do and keep on that path. But sometimes the difficult decision in life is understanding what actually is the Right path for your Life. peace and Love, Doc
Dalton
Does there need to be valid identification? Or could someone just get some random guy to pretend to be their father/mother? I would like to know if this would work because I met a girl at the 4/20 grateful dead movie showing that is going to grateful fest with her family. If they don't look into it much then I'm hoping maybe if I just ride in with them that it would be fine and for all they know that her parents are mine too? Octal
"Well you see sir, once a man made love to a lady who had a child who made love to a women. Now that very same women gave birth to me. But my father soon became sick of that very same women, I'm sure your old lady can drive you crazy, and he done gone left her, and then married a damned young lady, you know, the kind that that ol' Larry King would be living with. Yet in a confusion of communication, as is common with children with split parents, I'd done gone married an older women who had a lovely young daughter because some other fine man had made love to her. But since this very same lovely young daughter was now married to my father, which I hadn't realized due to the lack of communication, she became my both my-step father and step-mother. Now, as you should clearly understand sir, I eventually became mad at my father for the lack of communication between the two of us. What's even worse is that as the child, I had to get mad at him for raising me that way, and now as his father, I had to get mad at me for raising him that way. Yet that very first man, if you remember him, was also his father. So this man had two fathers and one mother. You all know where this goes. So in the heat of anger I'd done gone divorced them all and married that very same women who my son and my father had left (thereby suffering two divorces), as she was feeling kinda lonely, as most divorced women do, you could understand, so now I'm a keepin' her company. Now if you've been following this, I don't think there needs to be any discussion as to why I need a parent with me."

Dalton, what's up with you not being able to use the private messaging system, hm?? I would have said....Just wanted to follow up on your visit to nlqp. Have you decided or called the park? I was there and at the gate last weekend when a father rolled in and said the kid behind me is my son and we're camping together. So, the dad filled out the form and had to sign in several places that he was totally responsible for the actions of his son. However, he was supposed to pull up and wait for his son to drive up to the gate to show his valid ID. But, he drove on into the park. I waived my hands and we yelled at him to stop. Joe (the park manager) said, " Michelle, would you ride with this kid to his camp and get his father's signature on this form?" So, we rode back there and his dad filled out the paper and signed repeatedly and spelled his name, etc. Now, I think that you may be able to get in if you the responsible party says, "Oh this is my son from another marriage" or something like that. But she would have to know your name, how to spell it, etc. But don't be a jerk in the park. They will throw you out in a heartbeat... especially if you're under 21. You still might wanna call the park and ask... then you'd know for sure. Good luck~ Michelle That's what I would've said in a private message to you, Dalton. But, now I've said it right here in front of Gawd and everybody!
Dalton
idk about that private messaging situation....but so it would be possible for someone to say they're my parent/guardian as long as they sign papers saying they're responsible for me? I wouldn't want the person signing to feel like I might do something stupid and get them in trouble, I'm not an immature idiot. I just want to enjoy some fine music and meet some nice people and make good memories.

Dalton, people can always find ways to get around rules. .... get them in trouble, Sometimes we disagree with the rules and beleive that the rules don't have to apply to us. Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted June 20, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 I've been taking advantage of the senior citizen discount for movies lately, even thought I'm a few years (a very few) shy of their official qualifying age. Forum MVP Teacher Matt Posted June 20, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 Can someone be my dad and sign a few papers so I can get in? I think most of us on this board have to much to risk if something did happen to you.... not that we do not want to help but for example in my case I to think about what would happen to me if something happened to you... good luck ...
