Yeah good question. Personally a song could one night take me way out there and another nite i might be heading for fresh air. There are just to many variables. Rarely happens though. I definitely look at any particular song as a small part of the whole show. If i am not feeling a song i usually just groove along cause I know if I don't stay focused it will probably ruin the total experience and not achieve x factor status where all the songs combined melt me into a dream state. xoxo

Regarding BOBBY - Hey man, Bobby fucking rocks! He has been doing this since he was 17 and there is no one who does it better or who is more comfortable with the audience as Bobby and Phil. Part of what made the dead, the dead, was the way they knew each other and Bobby and Phil know each other better than any other duo today. What they do to us people who are on another plateau, is intended - they are fucking with us just like they did during they days of Haight Ashbury and the Acid tests. Their music, along with Jeff Airplane and Joplin, was the music that people on the Acid Test Furthur bus listened to, and their psychedelic revelations were intended even if the outcome was unknown! And no one alive is better than Bobby. Hey, I love Mattson, Barraco and the gang, but there is a reason why Furthur sells out huge stadiums faster than Janet Jackson! There are few bands, even today, that can sell out 20 + shows in less than 1/2 hour and that is exactly what happened with the recent East coast run they did. I know, I was online trying and most of hte shows were sold in 20 minutes, and all the big venues were sold out by 30 minutes.

There Is a road. No simple highway.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference ~Frost

I have to agree: wang dang doodle, walkin' blues, esau. Also, china doll, dark star (I did see DSO play a fabulous one in Philly about a year ago, but it was the only one I ever saw that i actually liked), lazy lightning, tons of steel

With the exception of China Doll, you're right on track with my list ;)

Hmmm... I wonder too... Let the damned Herdygerdy play I say! :)

My Wife doesn't care too much for Little Red Rooster.....I don't care much for Foolish Heart....but hey, to each his own.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH........Beware what you wish for!!!!!!

Its nice to know others have some songs they do not like.  I just figured everyone would be perfect(JK) like me, and only dislke the late dumb dumb bobby songs:}

I made it through the half part of page two, and my teeth enamal started stressing under the hard cringe of my teeth grinding.

Terrapin---Must of Been----Row Jimmy..... how could anyone not like these tunes---hahahah

Beware what you wish for:}   Very interesting read however.  Its just difficult to understand how some songs that I share my heart and soul with is other's pee breaks.

Thanks for lighting this thread back up for me to see!!!  Its wording is not so negative!!

And most of all thanks for the honesty!!!  Still floored by what some of you all do not like, but a testament to the wonderful variety that makes head meeting fun!!

Thanks again!!!!

I once hated Row Jimmy.  Yea I said it.  Used to bore me.  73 Row Jimmy's still bore me.  76+ and I'm happy, now.

Sugar Mag for years was the Grateful Dead for me.  I can't say I don't like it anymore.  My deep love for the song has diminished though.  It's still a happy go lucky rocking tune though.

Oh, and Corrina got mentioned earlier in the thread.  Always hated that song.  Was embarrassed for Bobby when the Grateful Dead would play it.  But.... Furthur did it in Buffalo in 2010?, and it was amazing.  It had a groove it never had when the Grateful Dead did it.  There were two young kids from Ontario sitting next to me and they were asking "What is this song?" all excited.  I explained it had been a clunker back in the 90s, but that Furthur were giving it a good spin that night.

Like many of you, I have gone in and out of some songs.  I guess the songs I have never got into was Corina, Piccasso---and some of the others mentioned.   Red Rooster..CC..   Walking.

But at the same time, I have heard some of them--minus Corina/PM  jammed and sounded good.

I have heard some songs so many times they loose there fun; however, they are fun to go back to at times.  Eaton jammed a Sugar Mag at a recent show, and the fanning on his strings had me like a firework!!

I can give any of those songs a chance as long as the heart of jam was in them!

Herdy?    What about "Must of Been the Roses"  do you not like?

I could understand Brother Esau...that song grew on me!!  A lot of the songs grew on me!!

I once hated Row Jimmy.  Yea I said it.

Wow.....borring Row Jimmy!!    It takes a lot to say that!!   Have  always loved the rabbit catch song:}  I guess we all evolved differently with respects to what we loved and appreciate about the music.

I must say, the Lyrics to Roses lit me up before the music did, but eventually they both synergized, and it for me is one of the deepiest and darkest, but pretty songs I spin too, and I love spinning to it.
