Forum MVP John A Posted May 11, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 11, 2011 Musically what more can be said? An excellent show in a wonderful era for the band, and a whole show (with choice filler) to boot. But the sonics are a bit of an enigma. It might be the most open and dynamic sound I've heard from the era, with excellent detail on all the instruments, particularly Keith and Phil. It's as if it were mixed from separate tracks. And yet, it has more noise than any official release I can recall. My only guess is that Jeff Norman felt he needed to leave the residual noise in order to preserve the recording's beauty. I have a tough time listening through hiss, so I really need to ficus hard to get past it. That said, once you do there is a hell of a lot to love here. Forum MVP John A Posted May 14, 2011 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 14, 2011 Listening to 11/30/73 - and there a mountain of hiss on that one also. Maybe a Fall '73 phenomena...but the overall quality of Boston '73 doesn't touch this Denver release!
Forum MVP cm_hayden Posted May 15, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 15, 2011 There's better quality auds out, so what's the purpose of releasing this hiss filled recording?
