More To Come?

Looks like I'll break the ice on the Gratefulfest 12 page, as it looks like I'll be returning from my one-year hiatus and I already can't wait!

The line-up looks amazing so far (Cornmeal is back? REALLY!?!?!?!), but I wouldn't mind seeing a few more acts pop back up. So, does anyone have any idea about who else we might see appear on the bill? I, for one, would really love it if Kimock & Melvin came back!

Any insights?

I'll be heading to nlqp tomorrow... any messages you'd like me to convey? B) I personally go simply for the DSO. NRPS are always fun. Other than that, I'm looking forward to the white sand beach, wide open blue sky, beautiful smiling faces, kind folks, good hugs and excellent music.

nice avatar by the way ~

I'm not 100% Cornmeal is back. Neither the Ledges' main page nor Cornmeal's site have listed this as happening. As a huge fan of the 'meal i hope it's true but cornmeal just listed a bunch of new dates within the last few days and Grateful-Fest was not in there. They also aren't playing a date anywhere within a 5 hour drive of NE Ohio so no reason to hold this info back. The Ledges has it on their Ticket page but no where else and it could be a mistake.

Again, i hope it happens (although i'm sure they will play at the park sometime this summer) but i've seen nothing official from either the band or NLQP.

yea i only saw it on the DSO homepage.. So maybe its a typo, or maybe it will be announced? Lets keep our fingers crossed!! I too hope JGB and kimock will also be there.. It would be cool is Mark Karan and Puddleduck made an appearance as well.. And i vaguely remember this bluegrass band from Tennessee called Bawn in the Mash that was rooooocccckkin at 3am i think in 09? They were really fun! They would be cool again as I'm sure they progressed alot since then..

In regards to Cornmeal, I was going simply by what I saw on the DSO main page. I know that there is no other source that confirms that, so maybe it's my desire to use the "minority report" as truth! I mean, it's CORNMEAL, can't blame me, right?

I was just listening to a smoking Ratdog show from 2001 today and decided, yeah, we need Mark Karan to make a return appearance! Palookaville 2001, absolutely CRUSHES "The Other One."

I just relocated to Kalamazoo and got the chance to see The Spikedrivers play the Bell's Brewery, and I came away feeling great about them. The lead singer sounds like Dr. John and moves around like Joe Cocker, which made for some pretty entertaining takes on the music. Can't wait to see them again.

Overall, I'd love to see some more bluegrass show up, in general. Looks like Greensky Bluegrass will be at SCI's festival at Rothbury on June 30th; maybe they hit the Ledges?

Since you mentioned "stalking" i'll share the joke Evan played on me.

It was a couple years ago when Trip (rip) moved his SSDD festival to NLQP for one summer. Cornmeal was playing a mid afternoon set. I'm up front shooting away and around the 2nd song i'm in front of Kris shooting him and Wavy. Next thing i know one of the bigger security guys (i can't remember his name (Dale maybe) but he's one of the few people that work at the park that DOESN'T have a nickname), comes up and taps me on the shoulder. He informs me that he was told by the band's management that i was creaping out Allie and that i needed to leave. Well i was shocked because at this point i had barely taken any photos of her (save the best for last).

So i immediately said "Evan put you up to this".

Well the guy gets right in my face (keep in mind i'm a pretty small dude) and says "Look, the band is pissed, the girl is unconfortable, shut down the camera and get away from the stage."

Well i'm in shock. So i'm literally walking out of the crowd all dejected when i see Evan over to the side laughing his ass off with a group of people. he literally is bouncing up and down. Then i look over and my one friend is video taping the whole thing - it actually made a brief appearance on You Tube.

But i took it well. They got me good and i can take a good joke - no harm no foul ..... but when they least expect it ....

Actually, other than DSO listing July 1, 2, & 3, only David Gans (July 1 & 2) and Donna Jean (July 1, 2, & 3) are showing Gratefulfest #12 on their websites. Sooooooooooo, although I am not worried that Cornmeal, Boombox, the Spikedrivers, Railroad Earth, New Riders of the Purple Sage,.....or anyone else isn't coming,

I would still like some more details and confirmations soon please.

Hedges, that is a good one. Of course, you and several others have been doing an incredible job of providing the visual element of the music scene that has made the soundtrack of our lives this last decade. God bless and thank you all so much.

And man, I wish I had been there to see that!
