Filler--help slip franks

Band sounded great. Smokin gdtrfb!!!----DEW!!!!!!!!

Seattle bound

I had been wondering when they would roll out a show from 1991 (if DSO has before, forgive me), a year which, in my opinion, contained some of the last truly great shows the GD ever performed. Not familiar with 6/12, but I'm sure DSO did it proud. It would be fantastic if they took on 6/17 from Giants Stadium at some point, as that show was just amazing, from start to finish !!!

Nice!!! I heard the folks in Bellingham really loved the show too. icon14.gif

the crowd was really fun...they were so engaged. Beautiful theatre- a bit of dancing room in front, otherwise slanted floor. Great light show. There were some little ones in the crowd who were having fun too.....and the ushers were dancing!

Had a really great time in that beautiful old theater...plenty of space around to dance, good vibes all around and no security....pretty much a free for all with completely friendly ushers around digging the vibe.

Personally, 1st set highlights were the sweet Peggy-O and then the Althea...which started showing signs of roof blowout as "this space is getting hot" was bursting out...

Stranger seemed an appropriate opening since it was their first time in B'ham and playing in that hall (hopefully not the last!!) as well as Eaton singing with his new hairdo...Was impressed for sure where they took the Stranger jams. And another tune that I typically just glance over without even thinking about when I see it on a setlist is CC Rider, but I must say the jam out of this really got the energy moving...Barraco's keyboard was taking a beating as he cranked it out and then both Eaton and Jeff took it way out there in a very tasty way....Same story with Bucket,,,,another song that I typically don't think of as a ripper, in my opinion, but the way this band can hit songs like that and turn it into a really powerful experience is one of the things I love about seeing them live and it's certainly what they did last night with the Bucket...

2nd set really took off out of drums/space and Going Down the Road got the energy really moving in the hall and the focus seemed well set for the rest of the evening...Of course the Dew was spectacular and aside from just one or two quick inappropriate yelps from the crowd the hall felt quiet and focused during the slow and quiet moments...was really feeling for the people in Japan near the reactors during this one and I'm sure I wasn't the only one in there sending positive vibes out in their direction as Jeff delicately navigated through the song....

ALso a really sweet Brokedown and then they did what felt like needed to be done because the roof was still hanging in there and they pretty much took care of that by filling their extra time with a very expanded Help-Slip-Frank and all I can say is that they sure as hell were NOT feeling time pressure and allowed themselves to be in full exploratory mode as it unfolded...the slipknot ended up WAY out there and I loved that and then when they came rolling into Franklin's the roof indeed became toast and they really rocked out as hard as that song could be rocked in my opinion....I haven't seen these guys in a year so I was really ready for it and maybe my hit on it was somehow altered (naturally...) but I do think that this H>S>F will be something well worth finding and listening to over and over....felt pretty unique to me....

Overall the original setlist of this '91 show would not be something that jump out at me on paper aside from maybe the Dew and Brokedown, but I have to say I really felt that the show was played as well as it could have been...they really cranked it out and didn't leave any stones unturned....

Psyched for Seattle and Oregon shows....I feel warmed up,,,,

Oh yeah...and before they hit the Help>Slip>Frank....Eaton said something like, "Here's a little ditty for ya" .................Hell of a ditty!!!!!

A terrific review...Thank you !... and what a way to start the tour ! Yes, the Help>Slip>Franky sounds like one for the record books, and I bet the crowd responded in kind when it was finished.. Can't wait to hear about future shows on the West Coast swing. :D

No doubt....thanks for the thoughtful review! With the roof hanging on by a thread all nite and then blasted into smitherines it's probably good that Mt. Baker is not an active volcano. :o

If the erruption don't get ya than the lava will!
