Here is the Train In Vain...

I was going to make a thread for this Althea which blew me away but it's probably better to just place it here. Furthur has been playing quite amazingly if I do say so myself. Based on Phil's birthday show it seems they've let go to John taking the reigns and this has directly effected the music in a positive way, in my opinion.

Vincent, I was at the 3/17 Furthur show in Fairfax. I agree that they are sounding/playing great. The highlight for me was the Terrapin Suite..........sick drumming!

Speaking of the Allmans... not sure who out there has Comcast/On Demand but I occasionally check out the "music" section in the On Demand section. This month, they have 3+ hours of their annual spring NYC run from 2010. Take it for what you will in 2011, but I think they still sound great. Gregg looks healthy (God willing) and Derek is absolutely SHREDDING.... The songs are grate.

Very healthy fun, good for your mind.

Were you there Steve? Was it cool or was it a crowded stage? I've been keeping up with the setlists this tour and it's been interesting. That 1967 or earlier 1st set Saturday night seemed cool.

No, i was on the fence and decided to bail on it. Really bummed as I love EC. Elvis Costello is a huge fan of the gd,as he became head in the early 70's and continued to see the dead throughout their career. His wife's hot too...

I equate furthur with the dead in the 90's, moments of complete brilliance followed by train wreck moments. I still get a kick out of seeing JK up there, and to me, he has grown so much playing with Lesh/ Weir. Headed to Hampton this weekend, should be a blast.

Yea, I just watched the clip and I liked it. Elvis fit right in on those two tunes. I wish it was better sound quality but that will come.
