Easily the best mattson show I've seen..stupendous...his guitar work, specifically at the beginning of Samson was almost layered if you will...it gets better every time..thanks.

HOLY SMOKING EYES!

a true dance-a-thon. Very ac hilton-esque.

love it...that was one of the best dance experiences I've ever had at a show....

so many great vibes coming off this board and through word of mouth. 2011 is turning into a really fantastic year and its only the beginning....I'll say it again- so happy for the band, and of course for us to have this. Glad everyone's been having so much fun....I'm patiently waiting for my turn :)

Wish I was there. Hope they play the Hilton again this year. Very cool venue cant wait to go back there!

This tour is really an amazing journey. Hats of to Rob Eaton for his amazing selection of material to play. Not a dull moment. Keep em coming! See y'all in Rahway.

Sugaree was huge. Lisa killed Sunrise. Big river was actually pretty fucking ripping. terrapin... Mattson owned Eyes. And NFA with the fire alarm going off only made it better. The whole band put a lot of energy into that. Everyone in that theater was feeding off each other. Around was fiery closer. Overall, a outstanding recreation of a great Spring 77 show. This is the second night in a row the band has put me in a time machine...

For me, last night was all about Kevin. Jeff was amazing, Barraco and Eaton were darting in and out of Mattson's jams like I don't think I have ever seen them do before, but Kevin..... wow. I know it was a '77 show and Phil was absolutely hitting a peak on the "lead bass"position at that point, but Kevin played like his hair was on fire. A real highlight for me was his work on Jack-A-Roe. He was absolutely taking the song in a different, Cannonball Adderly direction on the low end, and it never sounded sweeter. BeW, Minglewood, Samson, and NFA were all highlights for me. The second set Terrapin> Estimated>Eyes was really the coup de grace, though. The whole band was on a different plane for that combination.

Additionally, I don't know if the vocals ever sounded better. The harmonies were fantastic, and Lisa sounded amazing. Eaton's vocals on the core '76-'77 material was also a real highlight for me. It felt like he was really "in the moment," vocally.

We are really looking forward to next weekend in Hagerstown and Buffalo. This is shaping up to be a Spring Tour for the ages.

Glad to hear that Kevin was tearing it up. I always really like Kevin's playing, but sometimes wish that he would go for the jugular more and attack the low frequencies the way Phil did in the 60's and 70's.

I hope for a killer show at The State Theater this Thursday. Can't wait!! :dsorocks:

This was one of the most amazing DSO performances I've ever seen. It was so over the top steal your face melt it and pray it would reattach off the hook I could hardly stand it. There was nothing else to do but dance! And what a dance fest it was!! Great little circle in the front

The band acted as if the fire alarm was part of the show and the intensity during the NFA was insane and as the alarm finally turned off, the band just smiled and turned it up a notch...what is it with these fire alarms?

when did that happen before? I feel like I was there, can't put my finger on it.....

Probably and hopefully not. I think west coasters are less inclined to pull fire alarms.

though they are more likely to set one off say after a show in a hotel room below the venue in a casino!!!!! unsure.gif

OK now you get the irascible New Yorker in me. I don't think anybody is pulling the alarms. I thinks it's from a combo of the haze on stage and the intense amount of smoke coming from the audience. I've known more mischievous west coasters than east coasters! Just sayin'

There was definitely some smoke coming from the crowd..... .and if the intensity of the music could cause it to happen, well, it was certainly there!

Looking forward to mexacali and rahway, you guys are killing it.
