Gypsy Bob
I'm an old dead head but new to the DSO phenomenon. In the day Dead Heads were always in the cross hairs of law enforcement. Has this carried over to DSO fans/shows?

Taper Ron
No! The scene doesn't represent itself to that. I agree! In my experience, for the most part, DSO fans show a little more restraint and a bit of common sense. Not that I'm condemning all Deadheads, but there WERE those who spoiled things for everybody. It got to the point where it wasn't fun to go to shows.
Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted March 6, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 6, 2011 Concur with Scott and TR. Incidents happen from time to time but this scene isn't really the flame for those moths.

GD shows didn't really get that bad till Touch of Grey came out, totally different crowd.
michelle
I think we've learned to adapt a little bit, too. You just don't see those red flag bumper stickers like you used to. The occupants of this bus are indubitably up to something

Starhead420
The only place I've ever seen sketchy cop activity was NLQP.. Always undercovers... But if your SMART and CAREFUL you will be just fine! Just Beware of the Dready Feddy..
Brian NJ
The DSO scene is not in the crosshairs at all. What I see is people go see DSO because of the Quality Music- for me and others the spiritual uplift being the result. On retrospect, I see the old dead scene as many of the people having the SCENE as their primary purpose of going to shows, yeah they liked the music too but it was about the parking lot......., etc.
Forum MVP Evangeline Posted March 11, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 11, 2011 I don't think that the DSO crowd is necessarily "in the crosshairs," but whatever band you go to see, these days you must always keep your eyes open and be smart. I think that in the current fiscal environment, we are seeing an increase in the number of "traffic ticket" smoking busts as a way for a lot of townships to increase revenues. I really do think it is as simple as that.

Forum MVP anddave Posted March 11, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 11, 2011 Quoth the Dead in their '95 scolding: "We're all supposed to be about higher consciousness, not drunken stupidity." The drug culture and the abundant wrath it draws from the square world are the biggest threats to our continuing ability to enjoy shows, i.e. "The Music". With startlingly few exceptions, imho, DSO fans are hip to that and behave accordingly well in the interest of preserving the music. Sez me anyway.
