Awesome looking setlist, with a nice couple of JGB tunes in the mix. "World To Give" is rarely played, and I hope those attending relished it. I have yet to hear a version with Jeff, but I'm sure he handles it beautifully, and with conviction. Also cool to see the show sold out, which could be a sign of things to come... a new sense of energy and focus in the band due, in my opinion, in part to Jeff''s contributions and leadership (along with Rob Eaton's, of course), may be having the effect of word spreading that DSO is a band not to be missed when in one's area. We can always hope there was at least one taper in the crowd...

I think this is the first show I called so quickly. Lisa sang on Might as Well, and then a Bucket without her. I was pretty sure Donna never sang at a show when the GD played bucket. I say that... to say this...I was at the bar at half time and there was a guy there telling his buddy that he was at the original show in '78. Thankfully, I controlled the urge to bust his bubble, they both seemed to have enjoyed the show and I thought there was nothing to gain by interferring. The highlights for me were:

Easy to Love You (Special one for me and my wonderful wife)

Mighty Quinn

Scarlet Reuben Sandwich

Lost-Saint ( Very energizing)

I can think of a hundred songs I would have liked to hear besides Attics...Cumberland topping the list.

Peace,

Joe

Bucket didn't come into the GD mix until the 80's... no Donna or Keith in the 80's... As for the guys thinking they were at the original shows back in 78, I've had my fair share of overheard conversations that just blow my mind... One of my fav's is years ago, we were in Chicago, and I'm standing in line for the bathroom, and this guys starts talking about how he really loved this show the first time around when he was at the original show back in 84... Now the show opened up with Liberty, with Lisa on the mic... dunno about you all, but when you see Lisa on stage, and they are playing Liberty, you can bet your ass it's an elective show.. If you see Lisa on stage and the B3 is out, you can bet your ass it is an elective show.

....and you lost me at Attics too :P

My funny story about someone being wrong about the date of a show involves me making the mistake. It was during the first set and they played Run for the Roses. For some reason I got Ruben and Cherise and Run for the Roses mixed up in my brain. I was in the bathroom and some guy said it's an original because the dead never played Run for the Roses. I proceeded to inform him that they had in fact played it at Buckeye Lake in 91 and I was there. He argued, but I knew I was right.

How could I be wrong? I was there. To bad I was thinking of the wrong song. Also Donna was never there for a Ruben and Cherise. I didn't know that at the time.

So whenever I hear someone make a bad guess I don't judge them. I was one of them. I still am. I have a lot of Grateful Dead knowledge. I'm just kind of stupid. :)
