I remember another thread about this band a while back. Had a link to the show on archive.org. I thought, man, west coasters r so lucky.

Well, yes and no. We are extremely lucky to have Stu and Melvin out here, because if we didn't, we would be majorly hurting for GD/Jerry music. We have a LOT of music overall.... every jamband comes through the bay area at least once per year. So if you are a big jamband fan on a whole, you are very lucky. I have a friend here who goes and see everything, she's dancing every weekend at least twice. I have to say I don't go see a lot of non-dead/non-Jerry stuff besides the occasional bluegrass. I really have no interest in bands like Umphreys, Moe, Panic, etc. There are also a lot of other local bands here who I have yet to see. I need to dance, and if I can't dance to the music being played, I'm bored. When it comes to GD playing bands, we actually don't get to see them nearly as much as the east coast. For instance, DSO will do 4-5 east coast runs per year.... they come out here twice. JGB and Stu's bands plus the Dead dances are what gets me through the periods of time in between DSO. And Furthur, they've done 1 west coast tour (besides doing the rehearsal shows)

Overall though, I wouldn't give it up for anything.

I'm counting down the weeks til the end of March.....

[and this is NOT me bitching....I feel blessed beyond measure to be living out here and have the musical experiences I do]

I guess I'm just jealous of this specific band. Unless I travel to San Francisco for them I will never see them. I'm midwest, and I'm jealous of both coasts. On the other hand I do get to travel more than most people I know, and it always gives me an excuse to get out of town. I'm in Florida right now and it was 5degrees in Detroit yesterday. People in Florida are complaining about the weather here and I'm in shorts and a t-shirt.
