TJed
Yes, one of the great May, 1977 shows! Caught DSO's previous re-creation of 5/9/77 back in 2001 at Lupo's in Providence. Love that Help/Slip/Franklin's opener. DSO's version certainly rivals the original as discussed further here: http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/8032623/ (cut and paste, if necessary) Smile, smile, smile. Forum MVP anddave Posted January 30, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 30, 2011 To say this set was well-played is a cosmic understatement. Mattson's tones were delicious throughout, especially in TOO and NFA. Sunrise was immaculate. The NFA was by far the most enjoyable I've heard in years. Having it in the set rather than closing is a great feature of this show. Lisa got flagged for offsides on the show announcement but the penalty was declined. The crowd has been just wonderful at each show right down the line. Something about this lineup draws the extra-high-quality audience.
bdg25
An epic peformance to say the least! The first set was great -- gotta love a Help>Slip>Franklin's opener. The second set was transcendent! Jeff was on another planet during Comes A Time. It was all topped off with a bonus perfomance by Rob B. who completely nailed Let Me Sing Your Blues Away. One of my fave Dead shows from the May '77 run and a special treat for all by DSO on a somewhat mild Indianapolis winter's night. Go and see DSO on this tour - you will be blown away -- as anyone who was fortunate enough to be at this show will attest.
