Forum MVP cm_hayden Posted January 30, 2011 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 30, 2011 Changed my mind to DP 10 (12/29/77) after playing this evening is now new favorite. Seems to keep happening after playing a DP I haven't listen to in awhile.
Guest vinyldude
i like DP 12 quite a bit as well . . . but don't forget about DP 28, from two shows in Feb '73. I'm listening the hell out of that one lately. It finds the band just turning the corner deep into '73 IMHO. energy level is high, bill's subtle stickwork is all over the kit, everyone is pretty much vocally on, many twists and turns. a little disappointing not to get 2nd verse of the other one, but that's what exploration is all about. also a few lyrical flubs b/c some of the material is so new. but i think this collection is a sleeper and gives a glimpse of where they were going to get to by november of this year . . . Dr. Bombay
Posted 27 January 2011 - 01:27 PM View PostP2inboulder, on 27 January 2011 - 01:04 PM, said: # 15) Englishtown , NJ 9/3/77 ; stellar "Half -Step"; second set "Loser". Yep thats my fave also. Was my first show.....what a crazy scene. That's awesome! I heard it was really hot and uncomfortable at the start but then the sun went down and it was nice. Englishtown def my favorite DP. Back in about 1980 this show turned up on some special edition boxed set albums. A board recording pressed into thick heavy gauge vinyl, a couple audience patches mixed in. I'm proud to say I have a pristine copy! Funny thing is that for years I had no idea where the show was from. The boxed set says "Recorded Live at Rick's Cafe, Casablanca. All rights reserved. All wrongs reversed."...!!! Music Never Stopped, Loser, Estimated/Eyes, 1/2 Step, He's Gone, Tenn Jed, Terrapin.....all killer from this show.
GDTRFB
DP 33 from a day on the green in CA. Think these are called the "Boat Tapes" 10/9/76 & 10/10/76 The St.Stephen>NFA>St.Stephen is mind blowing. DP 24 3/23/74 at the Cow Palace in Daly City, California. The Scarlet is really tight and Jerry's voice is amazing when he gets up to the "...seldom times.... part" DP29 CD 6. The whole set is mind blowing. 5-21-77 2nd set An Estimated Prophet for the record books. An last DP28. An amazing 73 show from Lincoln,Nebraska-DSO if you read this I would love to hear this show ;)
