Noob Type Questions About The Southbound Winter Tour

Hey all,

So I have been out of the loop with DSO for a while. Saw them at All Good this summer, but thats been it for a few years.

I am going to be going to the C-bus show at the end of the month and was just curious as to what to expect these days.

Are they doing straight up whole show covers this tour or are they making up their own set lists, or is it varying?

Also, (not that it really matters) but have they updated their light show at all from several years ago?

I'm taking some friends who are new to the Deads music and they are just curious what to expect.

Finally, hows the new guy sounding with the band now that they have had time to gel? Seemed to sound good at All Good this summer.

Thanks,

Badgerboy

I don't know what it is, but the best DSO shows I've ever seen were at the Newport. There's just something about the energy of that crowd...every show I saw there had a buzz that other venues never matched. Can't think of any particular reason, but the gang always seems to be REAL wound up there!

Maybe it's got something to do with the fact the Good Ol' Grateful Dead rocked that same building!

I caught a show there a few years ago & it is a prettty special place!

Peace,

Rob

I attended last year's Newport show. It was my first time there. I love that place. I will be there this year.

Light show is always evolving. Brian kicks ass behind the light board. When I do a multiple night DSO run (at different venues), he sets up the lights differently every night. Maybe its because of the venue or the era of the show. Not sure why he changes the light set up but I like it.

Simple reason... because the Newport is located right smack dab in the heart of....

THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY... HOME OF THE BUCKEYES !!!!

For sure... I think the university is in discussion to put our names up on the Ohio Stadium (aka The Horseshoe) wall of fame .. it would read

Howard "Hopalong" Cassidy - Archie Griffin - Chuck Vegas - Troy Smith - Teacher Matt - Eddie George - Les Horvath - Vic Janowicz

Matt, this thread is two days old - what took you so long to bring this up.

Good times prowling the Horseshoe...

I think the OSU campus just makes it smell kind of bad at the Newport. All those truck drivers.

jk.

Had to say something after unnecessary bold red font

Even though you (Badgers) ruined an otherwise perfect season for the Buckeyes, I am sure all will treat you well and a good time will be had by all. I won't hold it against you, but I would not recommend wearing Badger gear around campus

Aah, well I have even worse news for you brother...

Badgerboy is just the name i use on forums. kind of a nick name thing.

I am actually ....... U of M alumni. =)

But I learned along time ago to never wear UofM stuff around campus and to take off any UofM stickers on my car.

New car hoods are expensive!

Besides the hate, I have found my visits to OSU to always be fun.

I have a real good friend that goes to school down there, so i have been known to rage it up around OSU.

The new port is a fun venue.

Cant wait

I guess you have never heard of are smart enough to recognize something called... I can see the not smart enough part since you did go to michigan...

Sarcasm

Braah, that last sentence was confusing at best. Should there be quotes in it somewhere? Is it missing a word?

I feel like you are attempting to be very witty, yet managing to fail.

No need to get your nuts in a bunch.. (this is also sarcasm)

Hope to see ya at the show!

raaaggggggeeeeeeee

Don't worry, I won't hold it against you. The show should help you forget about your troubled past
