notenuff
This is what is known in common parlance as 'SHREDDING". A better Let It Grow I've yet to hear. ENJOY (please note: It is mislabeled as Samson and Delilah, so click on that) .............ya might want to listen to the Samson as well, he absolutely shreds that too http://www.archive.org/details/gd77-12-30.sbd.dp-leftovers.20009.sbeok.shnf
pwpolk
I concede a very good "Let it Grow" and thanks for turning me on to this.... I do not profess this one to be better but Garcia is coming out of his shoes. Forum MVP Dstone5553 Posted December 16, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 16, 2010 As long as we are throwing Grows out there...here is a truly great one. Not only is it a special Grow, but it is the most terrifying 30 minutes of music in the history of the world. Starting with the Weather Report Prelude and culminating in the Spanish Jam. The Eyes>Doll that flows out of that ain't bad either, and it's a great shame they felt the need to play another song after the Doll, because if there ever was a show where that song should have ended it...it was this one. In fact, after hearing the China Doll, you gets the sense that THAT is the way the world ends--it is that absolute. A side note: to play this at anything less than a extremely elevated level would be a very sad event, and one I would guess you would pay for, karma wise. However, if you've just found the Grateful Dead, let's say in the last 5 years or so, you should probably stay the hell away from this...and I am not kidding. It's nothing short of biblical. http://www.archive.org/details/gd1974-07-19.sbd.pre-dankfix.4596.sbeok.shnf

As David said, nothing short of biblical. The most recent listen, continues to reach me in a special way. The China Doll is especially worth a listen in addition to the let it grow. Also...the Half Step, Brown Eyed Woman, Bertha, Candyman (perhaps my favorite version) and the Dew (while not perfect is one of the most unique ones out there). This show should be on a Road Trips or something. http://www.archive.org/details/gd1978-04-15.mtx.chappell.sb24.86412.sbeok.flac16

Still psychedelic, still very raw at times, simply magical. I remember giving you insane sounding tape of this magical passage (WRS through Spanish Jam) about 10 years ago Rel, because I wanted a great bass player like yourself to hear what Phil does in this Spanish Jam. Do you remember that?

Do you remember that? I remember it well and play it often. The whole show is freaking rediculous but the 2nd set is truely a monster and probably holds up extremely well against any challengers. Might have to start my day tomorrow with this one.....again
