came off of dso tour last weekend and jumped into 3 nights of JGB this weekend..... what a joy it is to have so much amazing music in the last couple weeks. These guys are so damn good....to think that Jerry has been gone for 15 years and there are bands out there playing the music to this caliber really amazes me. I wish I had the setlists to share, but I do know over the course of the 3 nights there were little repeats (surprising, as JGB usually does repeat quite a bit) and got to hear all the favorites including simple twist, sitting in limbo, gomorrah, stoned me, lonesome and a long way from home, harder they come, reubin and cherise just to name a few.

Mark Karan sat in for Train to Cry last night too. They played at a new venue in Oakland call the New Parish. What an amazing small venue. decent dance floor, really nice balcony upstairs with couches and another bar, and good sound. Probably my favorite venue I've ever seen JGB in (besides Penns Peak) and one of the best vibes at a show in a long time....all dancers, no drunks, no security issues, just love abounding through the music and on the floor. Lots of little kids upstairs too playing and jumping around on the couches which is always so great to have. Church music, family and dancing...my cup runneth over.

(by the way- NY folks- I see they are playing 2 nights at Brooklyn Bowl in Feb- $10 tickets, can't beat that!)

$10.00 for a barroom show is what I paid in January of 1987 to see Jerry at the Stone! Now that is a decent band, doing the right thing for the right reason! Melvin knows how to keep it real.

it seems that all the shows at the Brooklyn Bowl are under 10-12 bucks. I think RRE played there also for like 10 bucks and HBR for 5. They must sell a lot of booze.

I saw Melvin with JGB @ the House of Blues in New Orleans a few years back and the tickets there were only $15.00 although he got me on the guest list! just had to pay that high sales tax they got there for the hotel and such.
