Forum MVP Dstone5553 Posted December 9, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 9, 2010 I don't get it either. Was there something wrong with the discussion around that funny vid? Seriously?
Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted December 9, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 9, 2010 I don't get it either. Was there something wrong with the discussion around that funny vid? Seriously? The author, or in the estimation of some of us, the auteur, was of the opinion that some things were indeed taken a little too "seriously." Artistic license was admittedly taken with certain facts and possibly with Dead-related timelines. Likewise, certain opinions were expressed that were the artist's own. It created a mini-ruckus, a tempest in a teakettle. Original intent was being swamped by a tide of analysis. Hence, he was of the belief that rather than have his creations serve as a bone of contention when he meant for them to merely be taken in the humorous spirit he intended, he should pull them from this venue. And so he did. They are still available on the "xtranormal" website, so far as I know. Just sayin'...

I can't tell if I don't take things seriously enough of if sometimes people take them way too seriously. I'm willing to let you make the call Mr. Vegas, because I've always wanted to know. Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted December 9, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 9, 2010 The first one was some funny shit, and the creator knew he took a few liberties with Dead canonical facts. He did it for the sake of putting out some funny shit. A few people started harping on known and perceived errors or miscues. The work wasn't intended as fodder for deconstructionism and fact-checking. The second one, which sadly had a very short lifespan here, was about a typical DSO roadtrip. Fucking hysterical IMHO, but what do I know? I'm either retarded or pedantic; not much middle ground. In any event, the creator expressed an artistic opinion that he knew had the potential to get some shit started, but it fit perfectly within the context of Starheadedness. And sure enough, that too started some shit. So rather than have what was intended as some levity here serve as another thing for people to fight over and micro-analyze, he yanked them. No hard feelings, so far as I know, just some rueful regret. Again, I think it is up on that web site. C'est la vie, as we old folks say. Late-breaking news is that they may make a comeback due to popular demand...
Run Mary
Late-breaking news is that they may make a comeback due to popular demand... The first one was cute, the second one was damaging to the band. You may find it not so popular once it gets a wider viewership. On the positive side, it does explain a lot. Forum MVP Dstone5553 Posted December 9, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 9, 2010 If I had anything to do with the analyzing game regarding the first GD cartoon that possibly annoyed either August or his brother...my bad. Initially, I thought August was kidding about his brother doing the cartoon. I didn't realize it was a program where anyone could make one. I was bringing up the errors in the other cartoons, realizing how silly it is because they are all hilarious. And then I made a game out of someone finding the error in this one. I actually thought August's brother did a fantastic job of placing us in the year 1985, with the red tee shirt and Hey Jude reference, and readying to hit South Carolina, Richmond et all on that fall tour. So my apologies August and to your bro, if my post was seen as annoying or insulting. And I very much get why the other cartoon was taken down--maybe they could just edit out the potentially offensive part?

Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted December 9, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 9, 2010 I'm a slow learner. Always have been, always will be. One lesson I keep getting schooled in is that no deed, either good or bad, goes unpunished. But I love this place and everyone here. And "take a step back" is good advise for me too... That one will always cause me problems and no amount of school will help...at least for me anyway. I'll let you think on whether I need to take things more seriously...but I do want a response eventually Chuck. It will be good for me to finally get an answer to that one.
