WOW!!! This show rocked!!! The band was spectacular and the crowed energy was incredible. What a difference a night makes...the Anaheim show was good but this show blew the roof off! Can't wait until it's available for download. Thank you to everyone for letting me share and to everyone around me that let me dance my a** off last night. :dsorocks:

I've been to many DSO shows and many at the El Rey (which always rock) but last night's show was by far the best...the band/crowd energy in the first set was out of this world. And then the 2nd set blew the doors off the place. Rob, Jeff, Rob, Kevin, Rob, Lisa & Kevin...thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talked to a very close west coast contact today that was at last night's show (Richy) and he said the El Rey was packed and the show was "GRATE" , he had an awesome time and really loved the band , they were on fire ... our conversation was early and brief on his way to work this morning , but I could hear the glowing in his voice as he talked to me about last night's show ... this was Richy's first time seeing Jeff with DSO ...

great looking 78 set list ... all goodness from start to finish ...

You guys CRUSHED it last night!

My ears are still blissfully ringing.

This 60-year-old D-head was especially amazed and inspired by all the young ones in the audience, early 20-somethings who undoubtedly never saw the GD, but who nonetheless know all the lyrics to every song, many of which were written 40 years ago when I first got on the bus.

A new generation of D-heads which help keep the Dead alive! Love it.

To me, that is one of the best things about Grateful Dead music. At no other show will you find the kind of diversity in age, sex, race, and economic backgrounds, and I for one, love it!

I've been to many a DSO show and this one goes right to the top as far as energy from the band & the crowd. The setlist was top, the playing was killer as well & the boys & girl threw themselves into it & the crowd responded w/sheer delight. I would often look around when the lights shone bright just to see the faces. And the place was packed, the most I've seen ever @ El Rey. I couldn't even get my 6' dance circle, had to settle for 3~4' which worked just fine, I'm not complaining, I'm just saying, THE PLACE WAS PACKED!!! I was a little worried the new 'Jerry' might leave me disappointed. Boy were my fears for naught. The guy brought the goods.

This was my first DSO show. It was absolutely amazing! The band played great and the energy from the crowd was superb! I can't wait to see DSO again soon! :)

so true! except for the race one.. deadheads are definitely disproportionately white. i wouldnt be surprised if ive been to a dso show that was 100% white...LAME! diversity is good! deadheads are probably overwhelmingly tolerant/accepting of all races/ethnicities, so its a shame we dont have a more diverse fanbase. this sociologist says its indicative of the "hippie" experience/culture being a predominately white one

What no Promised Land? I had several good touring friends during the Grateful Dead days that were African American, Spanish and Asian. It might be different with DSO, I don't get to as many shows as you all do.

I go out with on occasion a lovely African American woman...

we went to the DSO outdoor show in Rochester, NY....

a very large turnout that day for the free show... 3,000 plus... .

she was the only African American in the crowd.... but true to the "hippie" fans she was treated like any other kind fan...

I went to 3 DSO show last weekend... Anaheim, LA, and Vegas.... saw one African American ( a DSO west coast junkie)

so I have to agree with the fact that the race of the "hippie" is darn near 100% Caucasian

That has also been my observation over my many years of GD shows and multitudes of jamband shows and festivals over the years. I just think it is a matter of cultural exposure and consequential preference.

Found the video from the FOTD from the El Rey show. Its amazing how just a few little notes can transport one back to the very moment one first heard them.... those 9 minutes of that show were some of the best moments I had that whole tour. For the first time in a while, falling back in love with this music all over again and being pulled to the stage as if someone had a string tied to the top of my head and was lifting me up off my feet and to the front where surprisingly no security guard even bothered me as I was in my moment of sheer bliss. So as I sit here buried in invoices, audit reports, and meeting minutes, I am able to remember again why I'm here and filled with love for this band allowing me to reach those moments of ecstasy.
