Kind of neat... if you like sports...

Oak Hill Academy, one of the premier High School Basketball Programs in the country, has an interesting Grateful Dead connection on its roster.

Keith Hornsby, a 6'3 guard attends the school which is located in the mountains of Virginia, Mouth of Wison, VA - and is the son of Bruce...

a Division I level player Keith is known for his outside shooting and defensive abilities....

That school is a definite basketball factory. I know Carmelo went there.... and I think Brandon Jennings the rising star on Milwaukee did also. Now all Hornsby's son needs is a Skull & Roses tatoo like Luke Walton.Which reminds me of Bill Walton's call in a NBA game regarding an aging Michael Jordan.

While these great Chicago fans hope to see Michael "One More Saturday Night" perhaps in the playoffs, he's beginning to show a "Touch Of Grey" in his hair, and while I've always believed that Michael must be a "Friend Of The Devil" to have such a wonderful career, he still plays with the aggression of a "Wharf Rat". His "Unbroken Chain" of success must come to an end. But his legacy will " Not Fade Away" even as he dissapears down the " Golden Road" and for us fans there's nothing left to do but.......

SMILE SMILE SMILE.

"This is horrible, just horrible, " Walton screamed. "I fear the NBA will go to "Hell In A Bucket" with Michael not playing, and the "Eyes Of The World" will be upon the next generation of NBA superstars. Comissioner David Stern is clearly saying "I Need A Miracle" to the Lebron Jamesess of the world hoping MJ'S retirerment doesn't lead to a serious case of "U.S. Blues" for its fans.

Walton then called Jordan's wife "Althea" and his 3 kids "Bertha" Casey Jones" and "Tennesee Jed"

When told by his broadcast partner that Jordan's wife was named Juanita....Big Red said this........

" Hey now, hey now, AIKO AIKO all day. jockomo feeno na na nay ,jockomo feena nay. HEY NOW!

I remember watching it live with my brother Brian. They cut the feed and the screen went blank. I said to him "Holy shit I can't believe he just did that" It was the start of his demise from broadcasting.....but I loved it.. CLASSIC!!!

Wow...I didn't know about either of those things mentioned above by August and Jordan.

I've heard Walton make many GD references as a commentator but they were few and far between...I had no idea he had a kind of GD psychotic break on the air. Wonder what the story with that was--sounds like they told him to cut out the GD talk at some point and maybe he wanted out. Can't believe you actually heard that live!

Here's a email I just got yesterday from a friend of mine (about a friend of his) regarding Bill. It's a nice little story.

He was the honorary guest at the New York Athletic Club All Sports dinner on Monday night. Jim O'Leary and I attended with the mission of cornering the big red head and discussing certain items. We did. It was just me, Jim and Bill Walton at one point and I said, "Bill, I've got one question for you. Which do you prefer- 73 Garcia or 89 Garcia?"

He stared at me for about 5 seconds and then said, "do you have children?"

"Yes, two sons"

"Do you ever choose between them? There are certain things that you just enjoy and don't make choices about: children, concerts, championships"

Totally awesome.

And I love the show Sunny in Philly! That character is pure comedy! I had no idea he was Hornsby's brother.

On another note...FX is making some noise with a new show called "The League" which is hilarious as well.

Awesome Walton story about choosing between the '73 or '89 Garcias! I saw him once at at TOO show near Portland (Columbia Meadows ?) and he brought along Maurice Lucas who sat next to him. Pretty cool. (((RIP Maurice)))
