It was a long wonderful trip.

I have not experienced DSO, but was an avid Dead head and concert goer during their heyday. I took my son ( college frosh), a couple of his buddies, and my gal. My son told me that Slowdown was a great venue, and I was eager to see what the night would bring. The crowd's demographic was varied . . . to say the least. The first set began with a couple of the country rockish standards. I enjoyed them. However, from China Cat through the end of the first set, I was engaged, on the floor dancin. One of the best "Bird Song" jams . . . my son was impressed. also a nice jam and great ending to the first set with Playin in the Band.

I was a bit surprised to see a small amount of people leave after the first set, must have been their bedtime. I am 55 and I was not one of them. Boy did they miss out . . .

As the band came on for the second set, I grabbed my gal and made our way down to the pit. The first medley started at the speed limit, and by the time it came around the bend in Greatest Story, it was simply smokin. I was transported, she was into it. Looked over at my son and saw the biggest smile on his face. That moment . . indelible. Stayed on the floor until Baby Blue, had a beer and relaxed during the subsequent jam . . . after Wharf Rat, we went back down and danced and danced. Those last 6 six songs - I could not be still. Nobody could. The encore ( Ripple) brought everyone into a gentle approach and soft landing. I cannot say how this night exceeded my expectations and was delighted to be a part of. Could not believe how long you played ! Everyone had such a good time. Congratulations to the fine musicians . . . you took me to a place I loved being in, without artifical ingredients. I look forward to doing it again soon. Peace.
