Forum MVP Michael Doc Watson Posted October 18, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 18, 2010 "Songs Of The Grateful Dead - Jesse McReynolds..,.,.A tribute to Jerry Garcia and Rober Hunter " Bluegrass arangements of our favorit songs ...preformed by one of the elder statemen of the style. This is a new CD that came out a few days ago. I first heard of it on our NPR radio starion fund raiser. Yesterday Jesse McRenolds was on on "Tales of the Golden Road" where they played many cuts and had lots of interesting discussion. The whole show was devoted to "bluegrass topic" Peace, Love, and Fine Pick'n for All, Doc
greyhead
Jesse gave a shout out to DSO on "Tales From The Golden Road". Mentioned that we would be playing with Dark Star Orchestra In Nashville on Oct 31. It kind of shocked David and Gary, or anyway it seemed to me that way. I missed that on the show...probably because I got called into work again Sunday to fix a problem...Halloween, DSO. a small funky venue that I like, Nashville with all sorts of sit in folk, not too long a drive from here, a weekend...just 13 days from now...and I haven't seen friends nor danced to DSO since Grateful Fest.....but Bess has us booked for a weeks vacation on the Gulf beach...Sad but I think I'm going to have to let the music pass by again and spend some relaxing time with Bess and Tim. Dancer'sChoice
I caught the "Golden Road" on Sunday as well. What a cool guy Jesse is. How often do you hear a guy in his 80s with that kind of recall and technical chops? I really wish I could make it to Halloween show. Hopefully, there will be some tapers there.
